Edit: The card seems to be neck and neck with the HD 3850 and the 4670 has a few advantages:

Price. 3850 is $100 on newegg right now. The 4870 suggested price is $80.
Power. Doesn't require a pci-e power connector. ATI says its 57w.
Form factor. This isn't an issue for most, but a smaller card means it fits into shuttle and htpc easier.

Its not gonna be the smashing success that the 4800 series is, but it seems very solid for the price point.

Looks alright for the price. With the 8800GT and 9800GT as cheap as they are though, this thing has some stiff competition.

Looks like the 9600 GT is significantly faster too.

I agree, these cards are great for HTPCs or similar setups but not the best option for gamers.

I am using a ASUS 3450 with built in HDMI for $29.00 and I am impressed with the Blu-ray & HD-DVD playback.

It's gaming for the masses. For many people the top end or even mid range card cost more than they like to spend. Let's also not forget in many countries very few can afford the more expensive cards.

The 9600GT is only $95 and its faster in all of those reviews (10-50% in most and over 100% faster in Bioshock).

The 4670 isn't bad for a low end card card but there are faster cards available for almost the same price. Its competing alright with the 9600GSO, but that card is only $5 cheaper than the GT.

Again though the 4670 doesn't require an external power connector, which is a huge advantage for those of us with small cases (such as my HP slimline!) that don't have an external PCI-E power connector.

The huge disparity with the 9600GT and bioshock is likely a driver issue - in most benchmarks it's only slightly slower, and beats it in some titles. The 9600GT is simply not an option in HTPC devices due to its power usage, this is by far the best solution for this market yet.

As soon as a low profile version appears, I'm on it!

For systems with very limited space and power, yeah it is pretty nice. :)

For systems with very limited space and power, yeah it is pretty nice. :)

That is why I am likely to buy the GIGABYTE VERSION. ASUS is very thick. About 4cm! However I want to make sure that GIGABYTE 4670 will fit in my HTPC TT Mozart SX. I have very limited space so I really need to found out its exact dimensions and esspecially its thickness. If someone has it please reply. I can not find them anywhere else!

That will be much appreciated and will save me some time and €€

Thanks
