Anyone else get into the GoG Beta? I did but I don't know if I want to use the service just yet. There are acouple of titles I want to play again but I already own many on the site, just wish I could try them out to see if they really fixed alot of the compatibility issues with newer OSes.

If you don't know what GoG is, imagine it as a Direct2Drive system that provides only old games but patched and fixed so there is no DRM nor any incompatibilities with newer systems. I don't know if they is 100% though since I haven't tried it out.

I purchased Fallout and chose Fallout 2 as my free game. I never played either of them (yea yea..shame on me). I then picked up MDK and MDK 2 since I never played the original and only briefly played the Dreamcast MDK2. They all work perfectly on my Vista 32 pc, the downloads for everything (game setup executable, manuals, soundtrack..etc) all were fast. There is no interface with GOG, just a "my account" section of the site where you have a list of games you purchased and links for all relevant downloads. So far smooth sailing and hopefully they will do well and offer more titles. I think they'll put in a new game every thursday (and announce the game on Tuesday) from what I read at another site.

Just FYI, Fallout and Fallout 2 work fine in Vista x64 when installed off of the normal CDs and patched to the latest version.

No extra compatibility stuff required. :)

Its not scammy. It was created by The Witcher developer and publisher CD Projekt.

I love the humor throughout the site, and it's great that a lot of amazing games will get played again :)

Do they have Icewind Dale 2?

I didn't see Icewind Dale on there or the Baulder's Gate series which I think would make excellent additions.

I have been playing Fallout and I am liking it a lot though I still am not too much of a fan of the turn based battles. BTW how long approximately is Fallout? I have Fallout 2 waiting for me also :).

Most of the games on "Good Old Games" are probably on here:

I'd love games such as Carmageddon 2 and Shogo to be offered as I can't get either of them to run properly on Vista x64. They work fine in XP on my laptop so I'm content with that for now.

Carmageddon 2 looks great using a Glide Wrapper. I played it at 1600x1200 with anti-aliasing a couple years ago. :)

No doubt. That game was great, and it had a pretty awesome physics engine for the time. You had to love powerups like Jupiter gravity, lunar gravity, and pinball mode doing all kinds of crazy stuff to your car. In XP you need a Glide wrapper in order to play C2 with a gamepad. I still use my old MS Sidewinder USB for that one.

Haha. Very true geftargnabl.

I grew up with games in the late 80's on my old Amstrad, well it was new at the time. ::D:

I wish I still had my System Shock 2 CD, lost it yrs ago. What a great, scary game. I still have Dark Forces, Jedi Knight:Dark Forces II, Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy on my hard drive. Every now and then I play them a bit. Those are super games.
