View Full Version : Flat Panel Scaling - Horzontal Bars but not vertical

I recently bought an Acer AL2216W 22' monitor, I did get flat panel scaling to work sort of with a registry fix on my Geforce 8800GTS 320MB, but I don't think it scales properly. I have it set to Nvidia Scaling with fixed aspect ratio.

When i change resolution to non native ratio, instead of having vertical black bars on the side, there are black bars on the top and bottom and the sides get stretched, so basically it still isn't the right aspect ratio.

I am not sure how to demonstrate this problem with a picture but I'm wondering if anyone has this problem and if there is a solution for it?

No luck here, I tried putting those resolutions to CVT reduced blank and it just does the same thing

Okay after wasting 5 hours on trying to get it to work, I did finally get the scaling to work.

I made custom resolutions for the non native 16:10 resolutions but I had to manually fiddle around with the values until it worked. SO ANNOYINGggggg

So what values did you put in manually?

This should work for you (the same is buried in Elvin's thread): http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nvidia.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2064&p_created=1177972007

From time to time, it might start not working again, but a reboot fixes it. I haven't ever heard of this patch not working for someone.

well, I have that overscan fix already, the problem isn't that flat panel scaling is disabled, the problem is the scaling itself scales wrong.

and about thos evalues, i updated the driver and now my custom resolutions are gone. So i have to go back and fix everything again ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Once i get everything working I'll post those values here.

btw, does anyone know where i can get information about how to set custom resolutions properly regarding the horozontal front porch, vertical front porch, active pixels, horozontal & vertical totals, horizontal * vertical width and polarity?

hey, I finally figured it out!

let me know ur native resolution of ur monitor, and I can easily help figure out the values.
