My TV Wonder VE is still causing me grief. I think I may try it on a different system to see if it's just resource problems or something like that. Maybe power related (but then other TV programs work fine). It's just ATI's TV Player.

One this is for sure... Dscaler rocks. :)

yer thanks for the info Rob. Was an interesting read.

and tv cards...
I'm running a pinnacle PCTVPRO. It's quite a nice stereo tv tuner. The software is awful though, but MMC run sgreat with it. Works for me :)

GTA 3 still runs terribly on the 9800 Pro - Well, maybe not terribly, but not well enough for me to enjoy. I admit that I only tried it at 1024x768 with 4xAA and 16xAF, but there's no way I'm going back to playing without those for anything!! It was very smooth in some places, but stuttery in others.

Vice City on the other hand runs like an absolute dream! No matter what gets thrown at it in 1024x768 with 4xAA and 16xAF, it doesn't miss a beat. It looks great, and it plays great - The way it's meant to be played (Hmm... that's a good marketing phrase, wonder if anyone else has thought of it? ;)).

Ya know, I had a similar experience with my 8500. I play both games at 10x7 no AA/AF max draw distance, and Vice City runs noticeably better. Good for Rockstar making the effort to tighten their code a little this time rather than going for a straight port.

Back slightly more on topic, thanks for the quick round-up Rob - I don't know anyone else whose owned both a 5800 Ultra and 9700 Pro (All-in-Wonder or otherwise), so it's interesting to hear some real-world experience from someone whose tried both cards on a day-to-day basis. That kind of experience is worth more than ten reviews. :)

I've had both. I'm glad I now have my 5800ultra. :D
It will do till the next round. ;)
All in all my ultra is faster. I use 1024res with low aa/af.
The IQ on both cards is great. I have no problem with the 9700 or 5800.
But as for as stable goes the 5800 wins hands down.

I've yet to find a TV tuner that had better Video In, than the Radoen 64 VIVO. It was absolutely the best. I miss it dearly!
