IF Micro$oft try and charge for an upgraded version of Vista I think it will turn alot of Computer savvy poeple Elsewhere.

Couldn't possibly agree more with you there. And I love my MBP 17". But I still use Windows as my Gaming System.

IF Micro$oft try and charge for an upgraded version of Vista I think it will turn alot of Computer savvy poeple Elsewhere. And in a sad way I hope it does. Maybe it would stimulate the open source wolrd a lot more.

so is WIn 7=Vista SP2 ?
in that case i wonīt need to buy win7 ?

unless it has DX11 and, nvidia and ati drops dx10 for 11 then it is a different matter. And vista and xp are bye bye for once dx11 comes, vista is useless if it donīt get it somehow

am i wrong?

Wow, that's marked up. In the states, it began at $400 which is about 2731SEK. Hopefully it comes down a bit.

I have been using linux for over three years, and I love it. However don't think of installing it on the latest hardware, and as many said if you wanna game keep a partition of windows.

I have three machines that run linux in my house, all are older machines but they are stable and fast.

To all the mac lovers out there, it's just Unix with a shiny GUI and some pretty good apps. However you have to buy overpriced hardware to enjoy one of the oldest operating systems in the world.

Come on Nekro any geek who loves software/hardware loves linux. It isn't as bad as you make it seem, and you just need to try the right distro. Truth be told you probably already use it every day in some embedded device and didn't even know it.

Also Zoomy it isn't about the price being free, but the code. ;)

to me - i can no longer live in fear..

viruses? Spyware? bot nets? rootkits? - those are 100% ineffective.

stability is great, easy on the hardware and i dont waste CPU cycles trying to keep the bad guys out.

I've posted before about using Linux. I don't use it 100% but I use it nonetheless.

I use Ubuntu on my personal laptop and it works great! I run into a few issues every once in a while, but it's just because I try things like Wine for gaming and the latest builds of certain programs that crash Ubuntu. If I could leave it alone, my laptop would be 100% stable lol.

What a novel idea. :afro:

And if you did the same with any other operating system, you would get the exact same result.

That is so not true :)

Some of us who love hardware/software simply don't have the hours and hours to waste trying to get something to work. I still have gutsy gibbon on one of my removable drives but I can't be arsed to use it since nothing I WANT to make work with it will do so without a lot of additional work on my end.

i dont completely agree with you on this one.

With any Windows Install, everytime you surf the web or get an email you are putting it at risk. therefore - wth Windows, you may be leaving it alone as you said.. but just interacting with your PC puts you at risk.
