I looks on intewed yesterday and got nothing, now its saying this...
UK 17/10/2008 http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/5822244/Saints-Row-2/Product.html

On a side note I'd like to know how much Rockstar learnt from the first Saints Row on how to make a good GTA game as Ive not played either SR or GTAIV.

The first saint's row was fun, but it did miss alot of the elements GTA San Andreas/Vice City had. I do think the city limited what you could do as well. I haven't read much on SR2s environment but it needs to be alot larger than the original in my opinion.

GTA IV, was a good improvement in the series but again not all GTA elements from the earlier games were there. I can't wait for the PC version to come out and the modding community to pick it up.

SR actually made a lot of improvements to the genre which GTA4 copied... it also looked good for the time, and ran smoothly for the most part.

The big flaw of the game was the crap story and boring world... it has nothing near the level of immersion and satire of GTA.

I liked the City of Stillwater. Some the of the things the citizens would say were really funny. Especially when people who'd never even seen such a game would watch you play. ::D:

Here's hoping this game doesn't disappoint like GTA4 has.

Did I say he couldn't?

What I was going for was if me meant gameplay or performance. If he meant gameplay he will most likely love SR2, as it is more like San Andreas. If he meant performance, I doubt these developers will get more out of a PC than Rockstar can.

See what I mean?

It wont. Better story, more fun, more freedom, better voice cast, better music.

A lot of this is subjective, and I totally get why some people would choose SR2 over GTA4, but... better story? Better voice acting? I have to call foul on that one ;)

Way better. Story is better to. It's not quiet as in depth, but it's more enjoyable, plus it's taking over a city. Not being all dark, brooding emo soldier.

I have some news on the PC version for everyone. First and foremost, the release date for Saints Row 2 on the PC is set for January 6th, 2009 (Ship date of Jan. 5th). This date has gone out to all major retailers, and they should all be updating their websites soon to reflect this.

The one question I’m sure you want to ask is, “Why was the PC version delayed?”.

The PC version was delayed because we wanted to make the highest quality game across all platforms, but it just needed more time. The game is a port of the console version from an external company, but that doesn’t mean the code can just be copied over, and ship it out. The PC version is still being produced and tested at Volition with support from the design and programming teams as needed. This is in no way a hands-off external port of the game.

One other time factor is coordinating the new control scheme from controller to mouse/keyboard. While the 360 controller will be fully supported for PC play, you will also be able to map your keyboard / mouse controls as you see fit.

There will also be a small interface change for Multiplayer. The PC version requires a little more information when connecting through a server browser. You'll now see each player's Ping, the number of players in a specific match, match names, and the ability to sort by modes (360/PS3 has this as well, but they have to create a party first).

A final addition for the PC version is adjustable video settings for aspects such as anti-aliasing, resolution, and more.

Our goal is to give PC users the same quality product and performance level which you’ve seen on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, along with all of the review feedback. You will not have any features missing from the game if you purchase the PC version as opposed to a console version, the entire game is packed in.

The game looks altogether... far worse then GTA4. But its not about the graphics when it comes to Saints Row, rather its all about how over the top silly it is. It's not like GTA where its trying to create a realistic world...

BTW, Those are prealpha as in before the game released on consoles... if you wana judge what the game looks like just look at the final console version and imagine it with AA and sharper textures but the over all graphics stay the same.

At least it supports AA. I'm curious to see how it runs. Doesn't look as good as GTA IV, I have a feeling it's going to be a really crappy GTA IV clone that doesn't measure up anyways.
