Just surfed to nvidias nZone and had a look at this beatiful site, when a saw this under the hardware section and there under key features for the 5200

"UltraShadow Technology

Powers the next- generation of complex, realistic shadow effects by accelerating shadow generation. Accurate shadows that effectively mimic reality without bogging down frame rates are one of the keys to more believable game environments. _"

So all fx-cards supports Ultrashadow?? if that is the case, the 5200 is verry feature-rich for a budgetcard

its not worth getting the 5200, trust me on this one...

i have a bfg 5200 in a spare rig...it bogs down heavily

i would take a ti4200 over it in a heart beat

the 5200 fx is extremely feature full... probably the most feature full low budget card. unfortunately, it is painfully slow:( i wish nvidia could deliever both to the low end market...

If what you say is true, that means that "Ultra Shadow" is a marketing term, a buzz word, and nothing more. Not even something newly introduced with the NV35...

And of course nvidia failed to mention that all other NV3x cards have it...seems like another gf3Ti launch to me. Trying to pass off driver enhancements(is this even the case here?) as something totally new.

edit: it's just a mixup at the website. See post after next.

Very true.

One big question is that, if the gfFX5200(non-ultra) bogs down in current games, do you guys really expect it to gain ground in future games?

I don't think that is a very big possibility, future games should be even more demanding, not less.

It is clearly a mistake. I just went to the nZone site.

They switched the Key Features information for the gfFX5900 and gfFX5200.

Notice that under the gfFX5200 Key Features these are listed:
CineFX2.0 Engine
Intellisample HCT
Ultrashadow Technology

The gfFX5200 has NONE of these. And none of these are listed under the gfFX5900, as they should be. The current gfFX5900 Key Features are the same as the gfFX5600 Key Features. And the features of the 5200 and 5600 should be the same, not the features of the 5600 and 5900.

nZone programmers == idiots. Remember, they got the URL for nV News incorrect, too. It's fixed now BTW, and shows nvnews.net instead of nvnews.com

Sideshow, if you bought an FX5200...you'd have to change your name to "Slideshow"
