So many rumours about what may be coming up, opinions/thoughts welcome in poll...

Na. Probably not.

I don't think any of the rumors are that solid. We might see a small update around Christmas. We'll probably see another minor update early next year. The GT350 rumors are the only ones suggesting a significant update and those look pretty made up to me.

I forsee Nvidia going straight to 40nm process for their next gen card, which will be out 2nd qtr of 09.

Pretty sure I read that the 40nm process nVidia was going to use from TSMC was delayed.

Even if there was a transition to a smaller process, I would guess nVidia would just use it to lower the head output and power consumption rather than focusing on increasing clock speeds.

imo they will come out with something new on the high end for the holidays....it won't win back the performance crown though.

I may have to change my vote. Been reading around the net that October 22nd will be the release of the 55nm GT200B. Clock rate 600mhz and shader clock 1500mhz.

Nvidia needs something out asap to reduce costs going to 55nm for now (recent layoffs) and combat ATI's 55nm lineup. I will wait a little longer :)

I doubt it, I'd prefer no refresh and wait a while for something that's actually worth it... They should learn from their mistakes aka. 9800GX2.

You know he wouldn't be so annoying if he tried to pretend he was somewhat impartial.

Well as of today (October 10, 2008) Austincomputers (the other thread starter (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=119776)) is still selling GTX 280+ available in September 2008.
Nidvia GeForce GTX 280+ (September 2008) GT200b-GPU 55nm PCI-E2.0x16 1GB GDDR3 512-bit

They also have listed the GTX 350 (Q4 2008) so I wonder how can this be trusted.
Nvidia GeForce GTX 350 (Q4 2008) GT300-GPU 55nm PCI-E2.0 2GB GDDR5 512-bit

It looks to me the rumor about "Nvidia 270, 290 and GX2 roll out in November" is more believable and informative provided ALL the Charlie negatives about it are ignored.

New nV cards would be nice, that's for sure. Hopefully they'll release them on time for Nehalem.

So, the GTX 350 could be the dual chip GT200@55nm card.

Still waiting for the GDDR5 with 512bit monster here :drooling:

are you talking about the 270 and 290 series?

They are already being shown around.

from what I read, they are only die shrinks of the 260/280.

same specs with slightly lower power.

same sale cost.

its all about improving margins by increasing GPU's per die.

Hopefully NV has corrected the soldering problems that is killing the earlier batches.
