WE GOT WORD that Intel is adivising mobo-makers and memory vendors alike about their new X58+Core i7 combo and to abide to a strict 1.65V limit on memory voltages, beyond which there is the risk of burning out the CPU.

you can draw your own conclusions, but this is definitely not good......:headexplode:

Hmm, a quick peek through Newegg and it looks like stock voltage is 1.5V. There are some kits which can go as high as 2.0V like the Corsair DDR3-1800. So basically it sounds like the majority of ram will need too much voltage for nehalem. I bet Intel will gladly sell you an extreme edition processor which will be "special made" to handle the extra voltage.

Nehalem supports triple-channel memory.
The memory vendors are preparing such lower voltage high performance kits to be available before Nehalem launch. The extreme edition will use the same kits.

Why does memory voltage effect the CPU?

Why does memory voltage effect the CPU?

doesn't Nehalem have on-chip memory controller
