Is there any difference in performance between different 3.5" floppy drive brands or models? Seek/access time, read/write speed, etc? I still use my 3.5" drive fairly often, but i would like one that doesn't suck so much it blows.

None, the only difference is how many years it takes the drive to fail. But there are some super-floppy drives, much higher access speeds and capacities, but can read regular floppies as well. Only problem is that they can only be read by other super-floppy drives.

the only difference occurs on how old a floppy drive is. For example although I am still using a floppy drive from my first 386sx computer, many drives from 10 years ago are significantly slower than ones manufactured today. In my case though, I simply don't care considering how rare I use it.

But ya, Rampant CL is right, any current floppy drives for sale (except super floppy) are identical, so just buy whatever is cheap or to support the brand of your choice. If there is a difference between models, its probably not remotely noticable.

Just fork out your 8 bucks for the made-in-malasia brand. Its not like you are ever gonna use it anyway :) Better still forget floppies and get yourself a USB keychain.
