The prices for CPUs are higher than predicted and speculated on but than I think the UK prices are always higher.
About the ETA, I think it's going to be more like mid November before we see any Intel Core i7 available. I wonder when Intel is going to make official announcement.
Nehalem Available for Pre-Order at Overclockers UK, ETA 31st October
In the last few days we have seen photos surface of several motherboards based on the upcoming Intel Architecture, code named Nehalem. These boards utilize the Intel X58 chipset along with the new socket, LGA-1366. That's quite a lot really. I'd be surprised if that was MSRP.

EDIT: Sorry I got it wrong. I thought £469 was the base level chip. Think I must be going blind in my old age.:afro:

I will have and wait and see, from what benchmarks I have seen ,it may not be such a good upgrade for gamers, but time will tell.

Am I the only one that is happy with his current Quad Core rig and won't upgrade to Nehalem?

Screw first generation processors. I'll wait for the 32nm shrink since it'll be cheaper, faster, and more readily available and run a lot cooler and hopefully 8 cores.

Whats with the 130W TDP for the 2.67GHz? 2.7GHz Shanghai's are shown to sport a 75W TDP, that's a hell of a difference.

I'm happy with my quad for probably another year. I just have a feeling that if AMD can ramp clock speeds they may be back in the game with these massive TDP differences.
