This is nice. I was considering getting rid of my 4850 for a GTX260 until I seen this.

This game doesn't stress a 8800gts. You don't need the best and newest card for this game.

Read the first paragraph CaptnNubing!

I tried my 8800GTS with it and wasn't near as happy with the performance as with my current 4850. It was acceptable, but just slower across the board. I average around 60-80 or so now. With the 8800, I averaged about 40-60. Both at 1680x1050 4xAA 8xAF.

I did read it. My point is I have a 8800gts and it runs fine and you don't need the newest card for this game because it doesn't stress good equipment from the last generation.

I was basically dismissing the whole of your thread. :D

with higher settings, keep battles with alot of people can really bring my 8800GT to its knees.
so when going into a longer RVR fight over a keep I some times set the game to the "Fastest Framerate" setting.

I dunno. In R3Ds WAR thread it seemed like a lot of the dudes over there were having issues with this game using Radeons. I may be wrong but that's just what pops in to my head when reading this thread.

I run the game ok with a 8800 GTS 512 at 1920x1200, 2xaa and 8xaf. 4x aa or plus and forget about it. Also 16xaf is doable but not as smooth as I want it so I went at 8x. I do however love eye candy so it's killing my I can't eun at max on these two settings.

I don;t want to upgrade though becasue of the **** economy. Must.......resist.......reeesissstt.

Isnt that the problem though?
people stop buying stuff in a consumerbased economy.. do your bit, buy some hardware!

Well, maybe in a true consumerbased economy. Unfortunally ours is all about fraud and assrapeing the low to middle class. So, instead of living with a bit of luxury, I live little more frugal.

So yes, at this time I'm a bad little consumer. I'm greedy, hording my own money I guess. :/ Maybe the consumer police will come and beat me in to spending submission.

My 4850 is smoking this game. I use the 8.10 beta drivers and it rocks. 1680x1050 4xAA 8xAF averages 60-80 with drops down to in the 30s if things get real heavy on the screen like in some scenarios. I haven't seen drops like that lately I guess because they are improving the performance some.

Yea, like I said, that's just what I recall from a R3D thread but maybe things smoothed out with a patch or two. The new cards certainly allow AA and AF to work the way it should, nice!

Wait, my card is 6 months old :(

I have a vague memory that the latest Catalysts really FIXED the game on the new Radeons.
But earlier versions had a bunch of issues with WAR.
Dunno if it fixed everything, or just that one guys issues though.

I have a "Radeon" myself, but those graphs suck. They never included the 1900x1200 res and anything below 2560x1600 is tested on cards 2 generations old or worse. These Gamespot guys sure must be into hardware... :p

My 8800GTX hates this game, it stutters like a stuttery thing.

1680x1050 0AA 0AF lol with 4 gigs of ram runs like ****e with 100 enemys attacking a keep.

POS nvidia card, i'm seriously getting sick of nvidia, my next card might be an ATI.

I second this!! As a matter o' fact..I did! New mobo, ram and CPU for Warhammery goodness...

I'm doing my part as a citizen!

I found kicking my af to 16x made the game run BETTER on our GTX and GTS. Have you tried that yet?

PROBABLY. just enter this thread to add G92 has 96 texturing unit , 64 for GTX2xx , and only 48 for 4850/70.plus i have read somewhere ATI texture unit are a bit inferiour , in term of feature than nvidia counterpart. matter of FP32 stuff etc ...
i clearly see with armed assault (Heavily texture limited game) my 8800gts2 is superior at my 4850 and probably too my 4870. going 1x to 16x sample make fps divided per 2 . yes you heard well . but arma is heavily textured. all is texture on ground. leaf , grass , plant etc . a large set of them to filter.

is there a time trial demo of war ? i would like to test this game if possible. i'm still waiting patch for age of conan , and server merging , because world are nt enough populated .
