GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE...

There's two things wrong with the 360, it's awful interface and it's unreliable hardware. The second has mostly been fixed, and now hopefully the first one will be as well.

My two most anticipated features:

Game installs to the HD

16:10 resolution support

Finally I'll have a quiet console that FULLY utilizes my entire monitor (tired of losing 10% of it)

K

EDIT: And by quiet, I mean one I can play when my roommate is asleep. It might still produce noise, but the noise will a low constant hum. The DVD player isn't a solid hum, it's all over the place noise wise, click and clack like crazy

On a sad note, NXE is going to require 128meg of storage. MS has said they will offer "something" for storage to those who do not have 128meg to spare (core/arcade consoles), but are not letting the cat out of the bag.

I'm expecting something along the lines of a drop in price for memory cards, larger memory cards, or possibly the use of usb thumbdrives.

Bunch of info on NXE

I have to say it is looking pretty cool.

I wonder if they'll let you install games to a 8 gig flash drive :D

I think that would be unlikely, but we will have to see what MS has in store.

Here's the link to the article, but it doesn't say much http://kotaku.com/5061966/nxe-to-require-128mb-microsoft-offering-storage-solutions-for-arcade-owners

How did you silence yours? Even if I remove the drive from the equation the twin fans on the 360 and the fan in the power brick make enough noise to ruin any silent parts in a game/HD-DVD/Dashboard. ::(:

Without the cdrom drive spinning, my 360's fans have the same loudness as the fan in my 42" dlp tv. Quite a lot quieter than any of the pc's in my house.

Same here. When the dvd drive isn't spinning it is pretty damn quiet.

Mine isn't that quiet at all. I'd put it at nearly par with my PC when the DVD is not spinning and my PC is hardly the silent type.

Will have to renew my Live Account before that day, can't wait really.

You shouldn't need to have a gold account for the update, a silver should work fine. Your not playing online (it's a interface not a game), so the update should work fine without.

Hahah looks like Microsofts cheapness in not making an HD default in every system is coming back to bite them.

cheap 20GB drives for everyone or free 512MB Cards, lol.

Sigh... makes sense why the 120 gigs are so expensive- they need the money to give out free crap to the people who paid less for their consoles

Wont get it since they require your Serial number and well they'll know you have an ELITE.

Haha I tried and I get this:

"According to our records you own a console which has enough memory to connect to Xbox LIVE and live the new Xbox Experience. The next time you turn on your Xbox 360 console and connect to Xbox LIVE you will receive the update. Have fun!
If you feel you are receiving this message in error and own an Xbox 360 or Xbox 360 Arcade console please validate your serial number and reenter it here. Xbox 360 Pro and Elite consoles come with enough memory and are not eligible for this upgrade."

Oh well, worth a try. :o

I guess they don't expect you to turn on your 360 again until Nov 19th.
