Now the game is totally playable even using the Ultra config! :) Got strange problems with the other configs, but none with this one, so try it out and see if you like it as much as I do! (nana2)

Game looks the same, but the framerate is twice as high! (nana2)

Well the g92 is starting to show its age; got 15fps during the last mission! :D But I beat that son of a *****! :afro: Gaming at 1920x1080 on my Optoma HD80 + 92inch screen, crysis has never looked more beautiful!

I don't like it at all. The Ultra config doesn't look nearly as good as CCC 2.21 LVL5 or FastRedPonyCar's Xconfig modification.

Well it was made for the 4870, so the Ultra config is the highest still playable settings you'll get with that card.

The ones to the left are ccc and on the right crymod config. :)(enabled r_displayinfo on the ccc config so that it would be easier to separate the screenshots)

Ultra Runs better than the CCC LVL 4 but doesn't look as good, also I get horrible vertical lines throughout the screen. I think I'll stick to the CCC config for now, it looks great and runs well throughout the game. I am using an HD4870.

Well if you compare the first screenshots it's pretty apparent that the crymod Ultra config looks better(much more detail).

Even you seem to have those nasty lines, but they are running diagonally across the screen for you. Further, motion blur is disabled, edgeaa and ssao quality is lower in the ultra config.

Check out the horrible vertical lines running across the screen.

Also notice the detail on the ground below and above the line -

Also in the comparison screenshots that you have given, what quality of CCC mod are you using? Is it LVL 3,3.5 or 4?

The HD4870 config has a scope for improvement, its not bad, just needs a bit of tweaking. For now, for ME, the CCC LVL 4 config gives the best visuals while running well.

CCC Level 4, but it just doesn't have the draw distance that the Ultra Config has, which equals more "pop-ups". Going to have to do some more comparisons, but imo the ultra config has more detail(and thus looks better).

And the line you see is pretty common with almost all custom configs that offer better fps. You should be able to remove it pretty easily though, but I can't remember the command.. :o

Yes, you are right, the CCC config has more pop-ups than the Ultra one. I did change some of the settings in the CCC autoexec to bring it in line with what is there in the Ultra Config and the pop-ups are less noticeable now. These are the changes are made -

e_view_dist_ratio=60
e_view_dist_ratio_detail=50
e_view_dist_ratio_vegetation=65

Also any idea what is causing those vertical lines? Need to get rid of those.

Hehe, someone needs to combine the best qualities of the two configs to come up with an awesome config which will look and run very well.

Edit: -
Just noticed something - Ultra seems to have lesser details than CCC. Checkout this area, its from the first level. I have labelled the screenshots - First two are the CCC LVL 4 Config and the latter two are from the Ultra Config.

Ultra still looks better(the ones on the right). Are you guys using the same ccc config as I; ccc warhead 2.21? Because that one looks pretty crappy imho(except for sharper groundtextures due to not using r_pom, higher res distant textures and nicer looking water)

Try this one now - its the CCC LVL 4.0 config.

http://rapidshare.com/files/152946165/autoexec.cfg.html

Change the following three settings in the config -

e_view_dist_ratio=60
e_view_dist_ratio_detail=50
e_view_dist_ratio_vegetation=65

Notice in your own screenshot - The first one, lesser details on the Jeep, also two shrubs are missing in the Ultra config.
However in the second screenshot there is grass in the distance in the Ultra Mod but not in the CCC one, which seems weird, since I don't have that problem. Also the Ultra Mod has brighter lighting compared to the CCC.

The two stubs only show when you disable pom, and the grass isn't there because the view distance is less in the ccc config than in the ultra.
CCC wins in lighting, due to the ridiculous overuse of hdr in the ultra config(should be diled down by a lot!).

So both have their benefits and drawbacks, but the ultra config wins in my book. :) Now we just have to wait for the official ccc config for warhead.

Hmm could be pom that's making the ground details go away - have to see for myself.

both configs sucks... redponys balanced Xconfig or msters look way better.

But how's the playability? One could of course do an ultimate config that would incorporate the highest settings available, but it would result in the game being totally unplayable.

This config kind of cheats to get good FPS. It disables a lot of things like ground clutter, motion blur, and sets depth of field to 1 instead of 2. Curiously they decide not to disable POM, which makes the textures look blurry at a distance. Yet they try to enable anisotropic filtering I believe. Kind of a noobish config. Also has those nasty vertical lines, but I was able to get rid of them by tweaking the config. But still there's many better configs out there. You might be shocked by the high framerate, but you start disabling stuff and duh the framerate is going to be higher.

The level of the HDR is very high in this "ultra " CCC . Is 1

I knooow they are not intended for optimized performance and both CCC the crymod one has better performance. But the modified xconfig just looks hellova lot better, especially soon when red's gonna do some finalizing touches of it.

Does this config give you the extra visuals of DX10 in DX9 with higher frame rates?

Just did some comparison between ccc lv 4 and crymod, my conclusion: ccc has better performance, crymod looks better (better drawdistances, slightly better hdr), here are the screens.

CCC:
