Just curious,

Anyone know what the world's largest game is? I have X-Plane 9 and the folder is 72GB.
I can't imagine anything much larger than that, yet.

That's correct. There is 5 or 6 dual layer DVD's for X-Plane. The first disc is the "main game" and the scenery for the USA. The rest of the disc are of different parts of the globe.

For a an actual game, I'd say WoW is pretty huge. I think my install was taking up around 10gb.

That's a good size game. I wonder if games will continue getting larger or one day, years from now, will they come up with a different way of doing things that is more size efficient?

I wonder if they made X-Plane that large so people will not pirate it? Imagine downloading 72GB for a game lol!

but since you said the game is on the first disc, you do actually need to install all other disc?

My Steam folder is over 50 gigs when I have every game installed. :headexplode:

The biggest single game on my PC is probably The Witcher. Its 8.8Gb right now. That doesn't include the new quests or save files.

No, you do not need to install the other discs. However, if you fly outside of the parts of the earth where you do not have the scenery loaded it will just be ocean, no land.

I disagree. Bluray drives are far too expensive right now. I personally won't bother with BR disks until I get a 8x or more writer at $100 or less. Until then, DVDs all the way!

they will drop. Anyone remember how much the first DVD drives for PC sold for? Now you can't find one over $100 or so.

The bigger these games get the longer it will take to install, X-plane took me many hours to install. So hopefully they will come out with another way of making them smaller with better graphics & game play.

My first DVD burner was the first Sony model that launched with the -R and +R capability. It was $350.

I'm not falling for that **** again.

Yea, I have given away about 4 DVD burners in the past few years. They are basically worthless after a few months.
