the highly reflective glass screen is really lame IMO

seems like that would get very annoying :thumbdwn:

4 nv boards in my house none of them have any problems. oldest is about four years, nfroce 4 939 socket. newest is nforce8200 am2+ based.

all boards are stable, OC'ed and running great.

also have 2 intel based boards.

More problems w/ Nvidia chipsets...
HP has confirmed that Nvidia's faulty GPUs have created faults with 38 different models in its slimline PC range.

Nvidia's GPU problems have so far been confined to laptops, but HP says Nvidia parts are also to blame for the problem in its desktops.

"HP is aware that certain Nvidia chips used in the HP Pavilion Slimline Desktop PCs may experience issues," the company claims in a statement sent to PC Pro.

"Some of these computers may not boot or may not display video. Computers experiencing either or both of these symptoms, attributable to the computer's motherboard, are eligible for HP's Limited Warranty Service Enhancement.

You don't have to convince me, I couldn't tell you if I've ever owned a board with an Intel chipset in it. I've had Nforce 2, 3, 4, and 7 and no major issues. :)

That looks kind of ugly the whole way around. I like the all silver much better.

I'd be very interested in a Netbook... there's still this "Brick" rumor around ;)

I have an ACER Aspire One (http://us.acer.com/public/page9.do?sp=page4&dau34.oid=40836&UserCtxParam=0&GroupCtxParam=0&dctx1=25&CountryISOCtxParam=US&LanguageISOCtxParam=en&ctx3=-1&ctx4=United+States&crc=1846489241) sitting next to me right now. Cute little system. And it is relatively fast and responsive to. I've considered picking one up myself. Only downfall is no optical drive, but I can pick up a slim external one for cheap. Now I'd probably throw Ubuntu on it and completely remove XP myself, but that's just my preference. :p

As for the OT... I'm kind of disgusted with Apple. Anymore their computers are 100% identical to a Windows based PC except they cost 100% more while being severely limited in software/hardware under MacOS (compared to Windows). So long as Apple retains their current pricing and business practices- I'll never purchase a Mac.

How do you like that 8.9" screen?
I've been taking a look at the new range of "EEEPC" laptops around nowadays. Makes me want to have one for random tasks and a solid rig at home..

Regarding macs: I agree with what pretty much everyone has said, they are overpriced as heck. I kinda like the simplicity of their design, but I wouldn't pay that much money for it.
Oh, and I hate MacOS.

Doesn't bother me in the least bit. But to clarify- that post was from work. I don't actually own one of those. But for how cheap it is... I just might before too long. :p

You have to ignore Xion when it comes to Nvidia chipsets. He thuroughly believes they all suck, no matter the gen and that those who have no issues are in the vast minority, 10-1 like numbers.

I thought about getting a Netbook like the MSI Wind or Dell Mini 9 and install OS X on it. But a real Apple Netbook would be nice. That's what I meant in the post you quoted. The "brick" rumor is about an Apple Netbook that should be released sometime soon.
But Apple denied the rumor again in their Q&A session at the special event earlier this month.

Why would you install OSX on it?

To be honest, the one particular thing I don't like about Macs is precisely OSX.... but that's just me.

Because it's my favorite OS. I use it more often than Windows. My PC just for gaming some other stuff from time to time. Otherwise I'm a Mac user.

First time I saw this, Nvidia chipsets in a mac, does this mean that macs will now 'Rainbow screen' when they start crashing all the time?

Netbooks have pretty small keyboards... but then again - my experience was using one in a shop! :o Might be good once you get used to them completely. Macs - the only major thing I have about Mac/Apple is that some users seem to have a "I-am-better-than-you" attitude, as well as Apple "boasting" about... well... stuff?

EDIT: Wait... what "bastards" is not censored?

I'll take a linux user over a mac user ANY day of the week.

The whole Mac superiority complex bores me to death.
