View Full Version : Where should I put my Creative X-Fi PCI-Express? Between the 280's in SLI or above?

I'm almost done with my new build and was wanting to know which configuration for SLI with running a Creative X-FI PCI-Express sound card would best work? At the moment the Creative PCI-E card is above the 280's in SLI. I do have room between the cards but often consider the heat factor which plays a rule if you sand which a sound card between the two graphics cards. So what would you guys suggest or advise?

My X-Fi is a PCI, so it sits between the 280s. No heat problem, but I do have a fan located at the end of the cards blowing over them.

Why are you considering placing it between when it's already installed above them?

I think where you have it is just fine. It also allows more room around the two GTX cards for air.

I don't think it will work anywhere but the top black slot. I couldn't get mine to and several others on XS have the same issue.

Yes, to the hard drive. Blu-ray-R Discs are over priced at this time so the hard drive makes perfect to stock pile HD content onto.

If it is not causeing any problems where it is at ,then I would leave it where you have it ,You have a nice looking rig.Where the fan is located I don't think it would cause any heat problems if you wanted to put it between the GTX280 cards ,but if it was me I would just leave it where it is at .It looks good.
