As for phones. All I can say is Nokia, Nokia, Nokia. One of the newer E or N series60 phones would be ideal. Most have GPS, high speed data, wifi, VOIP and all sorts of goodies at a pretty good price. (In AU anyway).

I'm not a fan of Sony phones. Samsung is a pretty good.

Nokia's are ideal for those who want the simplest of phones and don't really use the extra functions.

Sony Ericsson's are pretty much the same as the Nokia's, but usually suffer from bad build quality(especially those that have a joystick). Haven't tried their smartphones.

Samsung's phones are for the ones interested in looks over functionality. Their smartphones are pretty good, but windows mobile isn't the most user friendly of mobile-os:s.

The iphone is a combination of everything.

This is my new slim slider, the Samsung R610. It's about 1/2" thick.
