I have to get a pencil and paper out myself to answer this question. I think I will get a headache when I see the figure since I have been gaming since the i740. I'm almost afraid to do it, heh heh.

Been buying high end cards since 98. They are around 500-1000AUD each. So easily 5000+ (Especially with my 7800 and 7900 cards I ran in SLI) on Vid cards alone. ::(:

Hmm...

Voodoo 3 2000 PCI = $100
Geforce 2 GTS = $200
Geforce 4 Ti 4400 = $220
Geforce FX 5600 = $0 (RMA for 4400)
Radeon 9600 Pro = $30 (sold 5600 and bought this ;))
Geforce 6800GT = $300
Geforce 7900GTX = $500
Geforce 6200 = $30 (backup card)
Geforce 7950GX2 = $110 (step up)
Geforce 8800GTX = $75? (sold 7950GX2 and 6800GT)

Total = $1565

Really not all that much considering its been 9 years since I bought the Voodoo 3. Oblivion was responsible for me buying 3 video cards in 2006. :headexplode:

BTW, I didn't count the old cards I've bought. I have a couple dozen old cards laying around that I've never used in my main PC.

Goodness me! I'd be too terrified to tally all the cards up, there has been so many over the years -- permedia 2, voodoo 1, voodoo 2, Savage 3D, then just about everything nvidia has every produced bar the Riva 128.

The most expensive nvidia cards were the Geforce 2 Pro, 2x 8800GTX and 2x GTX280, the rest were pretty reasonable price wise but the expensive ones were/are all extraordinary performers in their day (and even long after their day) so I have no regrets.

Considering I was a console gamer for ten years my numbers are lower. I would say around $1000.

But its more about my infatuation with hardware now that makes me buy not just the gotta run this game syndrome. I think my 260 will be fine for at least a year, and I would not have upgraded my 8800gt if I didn't need to.

XDanger

If I stay a year behind in the upgrades and games they will all work and be fully patched, Drivers will be final, graphics card and games will be way cheaper etc, Like waiting till a movie comes on TV to watch it.
Its a good idea in theory at least.

I don't even want to really know, but from the lists of some of you guys I'd estimate at around $3000. Even though my 8800gtx handles most things fine at the moment, I want to get a 280gtx but I am holding off for now.
