Are you serious? Whoever heard of "Dark Vision Hardware" and "ExpReview?" Is that the best you can do? One review from an obscure site that no one's ever heard of?

What about this review that shows a difference of 1fps with both 4xAA and 8xAA applied?

And again, from a more reputable site:

Errrr.... pretty much everyone has heard of Expreview. Search it on Rage3D, you'll find them referenced in 116 threads. Search it on AnandTech, you'll see them referenced in 184 threads.

AlienBabelTech on the other hand is a site Apoppin, an AnandTech Forum user put together a month ago because he wants to try his hand at reviewing. He learned of this issue from me, and got the save game for his original article from me.

Which is not to say ABT or Apoppin are not reputable, but you can't seriously compare them to Expreview and say Expreview is not a well known site.

Alright then, let's look at the numbers.

When you actually look at them you'll notice that the only significant decrease in performance that is seen is at 2560x. ATI would not hack a driver for this, because less than .5% of the population games at that resolution.

http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/6262/farcry2hotfix2rs4.png

Here's how it plays out.

HD 4870 - 1920x1200, 4xAA
Hotfix 1: 16.2
Hotfix 2: 17.3 Increase of 6.4%

HD 4870X2 - 1920x1200, 4xAA
Hotfix 1: 47.6 (increase of .2fps over 8.10)
Hotfix 2: 45.6 Decrease of 4%

So here we see an increase in framerate on the second hotfix for the 4870 of 6.4% and only a 4% decrease for the 4870X2, which is certainly within a tolerable margin-of-error. And not just that, the original hotfix had only accelerated performance by .2fps over the 8.10s, or 4 tenths of a percent. Hardly something that would be worth hacking a driver for.

Another review:

http://alienbabeltech.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/8-10_new_hotfix.jpg

4xAA

Hotfix 1 = 39.86
Hotfix 2 = 38.23

Variance = 4%

Four percent, what you find in both benches, is an industry standard margin of error.

Like I said before,

Even though I reported you as a re-reg (most likely Lamerson or whatever) I laughed very hard at this post.

looks more natural is it some setting in CCC or in the games settings?

I'm not seeing that AA error on the trees with the X2.

and you have anabled AA+Adaptive AA+ AF and such in the catalystcontrolcenter?+in game settings as high as they go+AA?
well then i do not know what is wrong with my 4870 or if it is a driver/DX9/game issue?

You're not supposed to enable AA both in the CCC and in-game. If the game has an AA setting, use that and pair it with the Edge Detect filter in the CCC, but set AA to "application setting."

It's adaptive AA. The same things happens in AoC. Disable that and you'll be gtg.
