Crysis is pretty immersive with 2 monitors but kind of impossible to play...

Well Supreme commander and World in Conflict both support dual monitors. The only thing is that it is just the overview map. It could be useful if you're playing an RTS to be able to see the entire map at once in a top down mode.
Other than that every fps or 3rd person (mmo) is going to be kind of hard to play because of where the gap in the screen is. You might be okay in a racing game, but I don't know of any off the top of my head that will run dual monitor natively.

On the same topic ,Is it at all possible to add a 90 degree rotated 15 inch tft screen to my monitors and use all three to play games in XP with the addition of a 2nd graphics card in my spare x4 pci-e slot?

The simple answer, no.
You might be able to get something working in a windowed mode, but your probably going to have more problems than what it's worth. I have ran UT2003 and UT2004 across 3 17" CRT monitors in a windowed mode with multiple graphics cards, so I know it is possible. I'm not so sure once you try to rotate that screen if it's going to like that and try to run a game.

X2 The Threat I see works with 2 monitors.

Really though you want to get one of them Matrox 3 screen boxes. Forget the name of it but they make 3 monitors appear as one to your video card so you can jack up some extreme resolution, use a FOV patch if required and you are fully immersed :)
