View Full Version : Can't afford GTX280, but...
People keep telling me this but it takes 5 minutes to look on ebay and see that they are going for $150-$250. :p
You get international buyers who get overcharged for hardware in their home country and you get people who think the 8800GTX is still the best card for some reason.
I will get at least $175 for this card, probably more.
EDIT: BTW, $100 is a bit of an exageration don't you think?
Its still faster than a 9800GTX in most cases and has 50% more memory.
just basing it on the fact that i wouldnt pay more than 100$ for a used 8800gtx

I sold my 8800gts g92 in 2 days with a Buy it now of $120.
Picked up a BFG gtx 260 for $199 new(after 20 rebate), free farcry 2, 3d advantage and flashlight.
Still, over all I like evga way better for their warrenty, OC support, nice website, easy to register item etc.
BFG is more of a hasstle to register and crap. Plus their warrenty doesn't cover OC'ing. Also I read a couple of places that if you send in the rebate, customers arn't eligiable for the trade up program(not sure, sounds stupid if so). Also, trade up for bfg seems like much more of a hasstle then evga system.

If you just game with a 22" monitor, then a GTX 260 would do the job fine, and you can get them as low a $250 plus a rebate. They are a fast card. But if you are looking at the other side then a HD 4870 with 1gig of memory would be a nice choice too.

@Technoholic
GTX260 = Awesome card (really good in SLI ;))
My board don't support SLI, but Crossfire.

Do you use the Q9450 for anything worthwhile?
 Actually, I am not even sure if it was the RAM or quad core that sped up my boost time so much faster than before. But I wanted Q9450 anyway.
I think GTX260 will be definitely the one for me to go.

The GTX 260 is a great choice.BFG has a offer of when you buy a GTX 260 or 280 then you get a free copy of FarCry 2 and a free copy of 3DMark Advance Edition and a free LED super bright BFG flash lite.

What does anyone think of BillMeLater? I have BML, but did not use it yet.
CitiBanks hate me. Newegg Preferred Accounts won't accept my application. Would be nice to have no payment for 6 months. BML has 90 days no payment. But with 6 months no payment, I can afford til then.
I understand about the interest, but who cares, honestly. :|

A regular GTX 260 is a great card. Many do 660-700+ on the core. Price vs performance they are a solid choice. With rebates you can get a GTX 260 down to 225usd @ Newegg now-

If you don't want to mess with rebates PNY and MSI have 260s for 240usd. If you're planning on keeping your card more than a few years get an XFX or Evga for their lifetime warranties.
