Whats with all these problems? We have an Asus board that doesnt use the new Intel Busses.... An MSI board that has memory stability problems and an Abit board that are DOA after a bios Update... Whats the deal? Am I gonna get a good Mobo for my 2.8C or what? Please NVIDIA, get a damn Intel License!!! Or at least ATI put out something fast!!!:surrender

Hey, Intel actually makes their own 875P mainboard. I currently use an intel board and its rock stable, just no overclocking features what so ever!

But i have herd the MSI Neo is great, havnet heard anything about the memory problems. Honestly, if i was in the market for a 875P id go with the MSI Neo. Or if i won the lotto the Gigabyte Ultra, it pwns.

OK but I dont need a 300 dollar Mobo... especially if it means I gotta pop a couple 500 dollar hard disks into my rig for it. I just want serial ATA and some good performance with a bit of flash... :) I like it but the last time I had SCSI was in 97 and that was with an 800 dollar 2 GB disk. SInce then ATA has been adequate.

Meh, I'll probably end up with a Barton 3000+ 333Mhz FSB and an Abit NF7-S 2.0. With some tasty SATA RAID, of course. ;)

That SATA raid is gonnna be running off your PCI bandwith!!!

With the 875P with the integraded raid, its has its own : D

Yeah, and considering all the PCI cards I have ;)

A gigabit network card can take all of the pci's bus bandwith, but the 875P has its OWN IDEPENDANT ONE : D

It was the MSI which are dead after a BIOS update, not the Abit.

The MSI also had exploding southbridges as well :)

Probably best to let them get a bit of experience with this chipset before buying.

The Asus Springdale seems to be performing like a Canterwood as well, so that is interesting.

Andy

i have the msi and its been stable so far...but word has it that you should not flash to the 1.3 bios

if the board does die on me, its only a 15-20 minute drive to their HQ :D

Yeah sorry I got them mixed up... Either way its pretty scary. Plus the MSI looks like the best performer. To bad its having such problems.

Still only use 10/100 and 802.11b.

I also read over at Toms that the Abit is having memory stability problems... :(

I did find however that the Gigabyte has lower end models without the SCSI for about $180 and another with the gigabit lan and 2 extra SATA connections for about $225. Looks like the latter is the ticket for me. Should be nice popped into the new Cooler Master Wave Master Case with an add on Cooler Master Window Panel. Throw in some Blue fans and maybe a case light, a couple 512MB sticks of Corsair Platinum and Blue DDR 433 CL2 and a P4 2.8c 800FSB a nice SATA 120GB drive and I am in buisness for QCon.

(Of course my Audigy 2, 9700 pro, DVD RW and PS will have to get tossed in as well.)

I really like that new CM Case. I currently have an ATC All Aluminum and the construction is second to none! Very sturdy and the thumb screws and Mobo drawer are awesome! It will continue to make a good home for my XP 2200+.

Maybe I'm just a nerd (OK, no maybe about it...) but I think that black PCB on the Intel is beautiful. I'd love to have one. Now, if I can find another $200 after dumping big bucks into my RAID array... :(
