Confirmed with a reseller in Australia, price rise coming soon in line with the drop in value of our dollar.

To give an example $650 for a card will now cost $820 - 880 from the reseller.

In other words, Get in quick and buy one now before all current stock is gone. Once it's gone, prices are coming up.

well...i am guessing stuff like Gigabyte/Leadtek might not be effected as much as the usa brands like evga.

It's quite possible. They didn't specify which brands would be affected, but they did give me a hint that it's more of a price rise for all hardware.

Nah, the Aussie dollar dropped, that would only work if the US dollar rose while the Aussie dollar and other world curriencies remained stable. Anyhow if our dollar doesn't recover I'll probably never buy high end again. Was nice to buy the best of the best for once.

"Vendors have announced price increases based on exchange rate fluctuations and we're looking at a 25-30 percent increase," said Raja. "However it's important to remember that a lot of products, like memory, are historically very cheap. It must also be stressed that this isn't a price increase [referring to manufacturing cost] - just an adjustment for the dollar/pound exchange rate."

Not really, I bought my 4870X2 for $660, US was $550, plus 10% GST, $605. So hardly half the price. Don't forget AU, CAN and UK have taxes (GTS, VAT) on goods where the US doesn't.
