It seems ironic, but Seagate requested a poll be taken to decide whether their HDs should support these OSs. Therefore, here is a link to participate in that poll:

that statement is incorrect. Their HDDs, well all HDDs support 64bit. Their software, for example Seagate FreeAgent for their external HDDs doesn't support it.

that software is not really necessary for HDD to operate, it just adds few features that are advertised on the box, like sync or backup.

Yes, that is true. I stand corrected because I didn't spell it out. That has now been resolved.
