Need Someones Help ... RAM Rated @ 1333 but cant actually do it :(

Guys need help bad, im a bit peeved at the moment...

First off, here is my system specs

Antec 900
Q9550
XFX 790i Ultra @ latest bios
EVGA 9800GTX
Antec 650W PSU


I got 2X2GB Corsair XMS3 DHX Dual Path Heat Xchange PC3-10666 1333hz cas9 DDR3 because the guy at the shop said this is good for overclocking, well i cant even get it to run at its rated speed let alone overclock the darn things.

In auto mode, the ram is set to 1066mhz and the cpu is 1333. when set to linked, ie both running 1333mhz, i get hard locks in games after 10 mins or so, when i unlink both, but still run @ 1333 on both, i still get hard locks, the ram is running 1.5 volts.

The only other thing besides calling this a heap of **** memory pack is to blame the timings, which are as follows.

I swear i should of bought kingston value ram and just ran that at 1066mhz, im real annoyed what a waste of money

isn't 9 cas ram @ 1333 a more then a little slow? my ddr 2 is faster by 2 cycles at 1400 mhrz.

not sure rage10, im a noob when it comes to ram timings and such, if it is then so be it lol

Ive got the same RAM & Board, I too had the same problem until I realised the voltage was too low, so much for reading the packaging :D


I also noticed that the 790i ultra auto set the timings to 7,7,7,20 instead of the rated 9,9,924 So ive set it manually to 7,7,7,20 @ 1333 with the voltage at 1.8

Now im a noob to everything to do with overclocking, but im assuming that the lower timings, the faster.
