Sorry, I'm still peeved about that one.

And they want to charge you $49.99 for the damn retail game! It does come with a 1 month subscription, but they're still charging $37.00 for a game you can only play for 1 month. Why the hell can't Sony just charge $20 for the retail copy, and let you download the game for free? They are obviously going to recoup the money off of anyone who plays the game for a few months
It's BS like this that keeps me away from MMO games. Hell, I consider $49.99 a steep MSRP for a PC game. I expect that kind of price from a console game. The only thing I thought was more ridiculous was the $59.99 MSRP for WarCraftIII, but at least Blizzard gives you unlimited free play online.

What are they charging? Too much, any game that has a extra charge slapped on after you have bought it can kiss my British @ss
Yeah thats $180 the first year, no games worth that much!

I played EverQuest for almost 2 1/2 years. Now everytime I see a game with the letters "S.O.E." on it, I turn and walk away. Sony Online is just plain greedy and shouldn't be allowed to regulate the pricing on thier own games.
hahahaha
Planetside isn't even a MMORPG is it?
just a standard "team fortress" style FPS?
why the hell would you want to pay for this thing monthly?!?!?!?!?!?!
go screw yourselves Sony...

Obviously they think we're idiots who are willing to pay exorbitant prices. And they're right. I actually have friends who want to play this game, and are willing to pay $13 monthly

Yeah thats the bad thing about this, plenty of people will just hand over the cash. It's a shame people don't realise if they don't buy this Sony will not charge for it. Sony need a good kick in the teeth, talk about tearing online gaming to shreds:mad:
The mistake Sony is making is thinking that the kind of players who will want to play Planetside are like the players of MMORPG games, who often invest themselves heavily in their characters and get so absorbed they play for hours and hours, and for that are willing to pay monthly fees.
Planetside players are more likely to want a quick blast for an hour or two now and then, and will soon move on to the next futuristic combat game. Paying a monthly fee on top of the original cost of the game is a ridiculous idea for those kind of players.
I believe when you buy a game you pay for a full product. You're buying an online multiplayer game which infers that the work that Sony does to keep the servers running and fixing any problems is not extra, it is part of what you originally paid for in order to be able to use the product for as long as you want.
So, like many people, I'll be ignoring Planetside unless they scrap the fees.

Do you have to pay for one month at a time? Is there no, like, '$30 for three months, $50 for six months' type thingy?
If they overcharge us for Star Wars Galaxies, looks like I'll be selling my preordered Collector's Edition on eBay...

Well they have designed the game to have some RPG-esque characteristics. And the game is MM, with a persistent world. So actually, yes, I think they made Planetside for gamers who like MMORPGs.
