Dying lasers or is it the PC?

For the cd part I bet the laser is out of focus and needs readjusting. You do however need specs on correct voltage setting and a multimeter to check this.

My dvd burner is like this so it can not read cd's anymore.

For DVD buring I don't know, easier to just get a new burner me thinks.

thatc "gab" could be two things, bad dye on the disc, or the way your burner burns lead-in data.

what burner? what the MID(manufacture ID) on the disc? made in?

but i'm betting on bad dye, if you look on burn area, you can see small dots, those could be botches where the dye is bad.

Thanks, I didn't want to tell him to get a new burner right away unless I'm sure it's not the system causing it.
