Which x58 do you plan on buying? (if you are planning on buying one)

Asus? MSI?
Maybe DFI or Foxconn?
What about EVGA?
And i know there are a few others too.

I myself am going w/ the Foxconn Blood Rage. :D

Are there any non-ioverclockers x58 boards out there yet?

Fixed :D

I really don't know why anyone hasn't posted picks and scores of these yet. Surely they must be available in the US. We have them here and in stock for the last 4 days. I was so tempted to grab, motherboard CPU and Tri-Channel kit last weekend.

I am not buying one but I do have one coming for a build . . .

What are you getting. I can't decide on which motherboard to get at this stage. Have picked out a 965 CPU though. :)

As much as I would like to upgrade I am gonna wait till after the new year, and hopefully prices will drop a bit by then as well.

I think im gonna be going for either the Asus rampage or the EVGA...im gonna wait and see some benchmarks before i make the final decision.

I'm planning to push q6700 up to 3.8Ghz which is enough of performance..

I also like the Foxconn Blood Rage a lot but it looks like it's not going to be available at core i7 launch time.
I might wait for one or two weeks anyway before upgrading, it usually takes couple weeks in Canada for the prices to settle down to US level on new products.

My other choice is Asus Rampage II Extreme or Asus P6T Deluxe, depending on price and availability in Canada.

Looks like the EVGA board doesn't work with CrossFire at least according to the box so that eliminates it right away.

PS Yes I know it will work with CrossFire but since the box is plastered all over with SLI and 3x SLI propaganda (at least 4 times on 2 sides of the box), it looks like that's the only market EVGA cares about and in that case I don't care about EVGA.

leaning towards eVGA or DFI or Gigabyte right now

hoping to get a eVGA X58 sample for testing/review but was told the eVGA X58 has been delayed from release and well DFI ain't due to end of month so review sample for DFI X58 yet. That leaves Gigabyte X58 but that needs a board revision to change voltage controller so load-line calibration will work..

so really it's a wait and see :)

I'm definitely gonna hold out for this board http://www.quantum-force.net/Products/P000000008/ (lee63)

Here's a preview of the DFI X58: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2008/11/18/first-look-dfi-lanparty-x58-t3eh8/1

Damn good layout! Even a bit better than the P6T.

for such a expensive board and no eSATA, quite a big disappointment

DFI, Evga or Asus P6T. Haven't decided yet.

A guy over @ XS has started testing some of these boards-

http://www.xtremesystems.org/Forums/showthread.php?t=207325

He got his best OC with the 920 on a Asus P6T Deluxe. Other boards did 3.6-3.9. The Asus board broke 4.0GHz.

If the P6T Deluxe turns out to be the P5B Deluxe of X58, I'm definitely snagging one.

Rampage II Extreme, of course. The P6T has the OC Palm which is kinda nice, but the Rampage II has everything else.

Probably the P6T, but I think I'll wait for the 35nm i7 CPUs.

Nice setup there! :D

Got the XE and the P6T today. But the Corsair Dominator kit got delayed again :(
Thanks! Did you get the OC Palm edition? And which Dominator kit are you getting? I was thinking about the 1866Mhz CL9 at first, but they don't have it so I got the 1600 CL8 kit.

That is pretty much the perfect Rig you have there Amuro. Please post plenty of pics.

Will do once the reno is complete, and I move back to my apartment.

Yes the OC Palm edition. I ordered the 3x2GB Dominator 1600MHz kit, the same you have. Not sure when I'll get it :o

I was thinking about the Rampage and Tri-SLI but I need my X-Fi and Controller card... SLI will have to do it.

Muppet is right. That's the perfect rig you have there. Can't wait to see some photos :D

I'm sure those GTS280's will get unleashed once feed by a 4 GHZ i7 ;)

Nice layout for the 3-SLI. The problem is same like with the EVGA board when the 3-SLI is being used it covers all the other expansions slot and I need PCI-e slot for my TV-Tuner card.

Anyway I hope never to have a need for 3 graphic cards. So that should not be the problem.

Rampage II Extreme, of course. The P6T has the OC Palm which is kinda nice, but the Rampage II has everything else.
I did read at other forum for the best OC the bios has to be used, in that case the Palm is not much of a use for me so I also decided to go for the Rampage II Extreme.
I like the setup you have, looking good.
