I've been running on an Abit IP35 Pro(PCI-e 1.x) I've hearing how much better performace is with a PCI-e 2.0 card running on a PCI-e 2.0 board and that Vista runs better on the newer Intel chipsets. I found a sweet deal on Gigabyte P45 EP45-UD3R (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128359) and decided to jump on it. This should be a nice little hold me over upgrade until it is time for a new CPU and RAM.

I don't think you'll will notice any performance gain with pci-e 2.0 alone on current hardware. It's more for future proofing

I think it was Toms Hardware that had an article on pci-e speeds.

I could be all wrong about this though.

I haven't seen a difference.
In reality, that's what I expect......but I'll be mentally eased knowing I have a PCI-e 2.0 card in a PCI-e 2.0 slot :o
