I wanted to pipe up and let you all know about this demo. So far its one of the only ones I've seen that really uses some of the better features of my GF4 card. Great water effects, explosions, and lighting effects. I'd love to show some screenshots, but I can only play the game in Windows, host files in Linux...right now I've got to play!
As it's a free demo, I've got to say, it looks good so far. It's rating a 8 of 10 in my buy list, of course 9 and 10 are Half-Life2 and Doom3.
The demo is stable, smoothing playing (read my comps specs though), and is definately a break from those run and gun FPS's.
Oh yeah I shold mention where to get it, www.chasergame.com they've got some screenshots there.
Just finished beating it, be warned it's short and it's got an ending that definately leaves you hanging :)
I was just about to write about this demo when I spotted your post. The graphics run real smooth on my Geforce3, and look nice. The gameplay, playing on normal difficulty, is both hard, and realy really boring.
The demo looks more like a tech/engine demo than a game. It's like a static level with almost identical enemies placed throughout. You can hardly see the enemies cause they look like dark blue blobs that shoot at you very accurately from windows, ledges etc. Gameplay goes something like this...
1. Walk forward
2. hear gun fire
3. spin around looking for enemy
4. ah! there he is.
5. ( < 3 seconds since #2 ) Oops, dead. Ok, so that's where an enemy is.
6. Reload/auto reload, start at 1, kill enemy and repeat process.
The game is almost as frustrating as the sniper level in MOHAA.
Of course I could be missing something, but compared to the multitude of FPS I play and have played, this is a yawn. A yawn with nice water effects though.
Edit: I only played the game for a few hours yesterday and played through the first 3 zones. Not sure how many there are. I'm surprised I bothered past the first, although the graphics did get a little more interesting. Also, I liked the destructable targets in the Tutorial level.

All complaints aside, gotta admit the game feels like Devastation - minus a boatload of bugs.
Multiplayer feels smooth as glass.
I played this demo when it first came out. Its a great game so far but it needs work in some areas. IMO they need to wrok on:
1. The character models
2. The voice acting...really bad...
3. Add something uniqe to make the game stand out above the rest.
Other then that I think the game is pretty good, especially the graphics. I love the water and some of the other cool touches in the game world.

I downloaded the SP demo. This game is awfully pretty. The water is some of the best I've seen in a game to date. And it runs lights out with 4x AA and 8x AF at 1280x1024 on my machine. While it looks like they did a fantastic job with the engine overall, I have some beefs that would prevent me from getting this.
1) Enemies are hard to see and waaaayyyy too accurate. I had a dude picking me off with an SMG from a couple hundred yards with me partially concealed by boxes. Not cool.
2) The jumping sucks big time. It's like I hit the space bar, then a fraction of a second later he jumps. Totally messes up my timing from every other FPS I've played.
3) In the underground level at the beginning, if you fall in the water the only way to get out is by jumping on a submerged box. It's not like the water is that deep where it would be too hard to climb out of.
4) Takes far too long to switch weapons. If you're in a firefight and run out of ammo, you'd be dead before you could switch weapons.
I haven't played MP, but with this engine I'm sure it would be a lot of fun. I would be curious to see if there are some enterprising young developers who could take this engine and make a better game out of it.
i just tried the mp demo... pretty fun, although a little to fast for my taste's.. i wish it had ragdoll physics though... thats the only thing graphically its missing imo.
