Lord of the Rings: Online DX10 shadows flicker with these drivers. Also with other 180.XX driver sets. So if you are a LotRO player like I am and you use DX10. Stick with the 178.24s'.

Thanks MDarkbladeM. The LOTRO info was all I needed to know. I'll stay with what I've got. (Ain't those DX10 dappled shadows gorgeous?)

A bit too gorgeous. Now I cannot stand the DX9 mode anymore. :(

Well I just tested Far Cry 2 with these and in one area I watched the framerate before and after installing these drivers and it seemed pretty much identical. No improvement at all from what I can tell.

My 3DMark Vantage score is up. Click below. I broke 20000, both video cards are running default clock speed of 602Mhz.

It was running good anyway (50-75fps), but their 38% apparently doesn't apply to my system in this situation. :p

Wow... anyone else notice that the 2D clocks are much lower now? According to EVGA Precision my card always ran at 400Mhz core in Windows with Aero enabled, now it runs at 300Mhz. It also says the memory clock is 100Mhz. :p
My card is idling at 48C. That's pretty damned chilly for one of these monsters. :p

I got that with the 180.43 drivers as well.
Went to FRAPS some Left 4 Dead footage, and the framerate crawled down to snail's pace for some reason. Settings are exactly the same as when I had the 180.43's installed. Hmm.

What driver did you use before this one?

Official WHQL ones. I didn't use beta.
Also 3DMark Vantage went up from 19797 to this new result (broke 20k, and cards are running default clock speed 602Mhz :) ). So, i suppose release numbers are more and less correct.

Btw let me know if you decide to sell parts of your rig in case you're getting i7. I would be interested in buying CPU of yours.
Thanks.

If you were using the 180.43 drivers before then you already had their "patch". If I can even install those without a BSOD then I might see gains because I'm using 177/178 drivers.

Hurrah, thanks nvidia. They fixed the 3D-bug on desktop. Whenever I started my tv-card in desktop-mode (300 MHz/100MHz) the driver jumped to 3d-settings (~1100MHz/640MHz) which is a big waste of juice.
I posted that bug here several times. The last working driver was 177.41 for my XFX 260 GTX XXX. Now my card is snoring at 300/100MHz while watching TV and about 3 C° lower!
