After installing the 180.48's for my XFX 260 GTX XXX I did some benchmarking while monitoring with gpu-z. In 2D it's working at 40% i.e. 742 rpm.
Now I used the crysis benchmark at 1600x1200, AA 4x, erverything High, aver. 33 fps.
After 15 minutes gpu-z showed 77° C but the fan speed worked surprisingly for me at 48%/ 906 rpm!

Is this normal or is the fan running at too low speeds?
Or is my card faulty?

I remember older drivers, where the fanspeed was much higher at about 1100 rpm when stressed.

It sounds a little low to me ,but if you are just getting 77c with Crysis then it's not bad.I use rivatuner and just set my fan speed at 60% and it keeps it under 70c with my GTX 280's.But my fan speed is around 1950rpm's.

So the fan should speed up at 77°. Now I have to find out if this issue is driver or hardware related.

Could You please tell me Your fan speed while stress without rivatuner?

Update:
Maybe it's just a misreading of gpu-z 0.2.7.
I've been repeating crysis bench 22 times in a loop at 1600x1200, AAx8, 37 FPS average. In addition my tv-card was playing.
Again it sticked to 77° and about 900 rpm. Turning down sound and other fans I noticed that the fan of my vido-card was noticeable very clear now. I have to find a reliable fanspeed-tool now.

Try Evga precision. Great tool and easy to use. Fan control works well with the 180.xx drivers too.

Thank You. I installed it and now I can't find the RPM of the fanspeed. It reads only the percentage.

In addition I'm looking for a torture test for my card now.

That's right it works by percentage.

I'd run 70-75% for gaming with a decent OC. I could run a higher OC and I'd have to use the fan @ 100%. That's too darn much for my tastes.
