PowerColor Radeon HD 4870 1GB vs. EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked
From the low to high-end, ATI and NVIDIA offer consumer-based GPUs that fit the needs of gamers that range from casual to enthusiast. ATI markets their consumer-based GPUs under the Radeon brand name while NVIDIA uses GeForce. Although nV News is an NVIDIA fan site and primarily reviews NVIDIA-based graphics cards, we occasionally test graphics cards from ATI and their add-in partners.

I think out of those two cards the GTX 260 (216) is the better deal and I can't belive ATI will just play at two resolutions in Far Cry 2.IMO the Evga GTX 260 (192) is the best deal at $219 and free shipping, plus farCry 2 a free game and 3DMark Vantage from Evga. They overclock pretty good and you can useally make up the difference with a little overclocking.Plus you can save $30 to $40 on a 192 GTX 260.Plus they offen have open boxes for even cheaper ,they have a MSI for $172 and ever open box I have bought from them was always good. But even if it is not you can get a refund if the card is bad.

nice article.
Yes! Very nice article. Here I was thinking, ahhh just hold on to my 8800GTX until next round and wham Nvidia/EVGA does this! Price is real good considering it comes with FarCry2 which is a game I want to play. My wife may kill me after all :headexplode:

Should be also mentioned under "other considerations" - NVIDIA has CUDA and PhysX support, unlike ATI. Especially CUDA support is great, as modern video-editing applications are starting to use it.
Thanks for the feedback! Good idea about mentioning CUDA and PhyX.
Power Color is hands down the worst example of an ATI card and the Nvidia was factory over-clocked. Try again guys.
I'm not a fanboy of either and have owned both at various times.
the Nvidia was factory over-clocked.
Yeah but both are in same price category..

Price is not rellevent to my point. And If you pay for a factory OC you are either lazy or a fool.

The 4850 must be a better card than the 4870 cause I'm at 1920x1200 maxed with xp pro 32 bit for FC2.

Or you want a card that will overclock guaranteed. A stock clocked card is only guaranteed for stocks. If you get a lame card, no one will help you if you complain.
