I will say I have had no issues playing any games ive wanted to play and they play without a problem at max settings. These 4870x2s have been the best cards ive had.

Same goes here. I have only few days experience with the HD 4870 X2 to talk much about it but I sure would not buy it if I was not very happy with the HD 4870.
Now upgrading to i7 i should be able to enjoy the x2 card even more, my Athlon x2 4200+ was way to slow for the HD 4870 x2 card.
Some news on the new driver.
» Catalyst 8.12 to bring performance improvements too
We already knew that this month's Catalyst driver release would emphasize AMD's Stream processing initiative, with a new Avivo video converter utility offering video transcoding support for many popular video formats. However the new driver will also bring performance improvements for gamers. In their testing ATI touts the following performance enhancements in Catalyst 8.12:
Crysis:+2-7%
Crysis Warhead:+2-3%
Devil May Cry 4:+1-6%
Far Cry 2: noAA scores are fixed for Crossfire configs; this is worth +20% on slower cards, and as much as 70% on faster ones; +5-10% gains when AA is enabled
FEAR:+2-6%
Left 4 Dead:+ 2-4%
Lost Planet Colonies:+ 3-10%, mostly in Area 2
Prey:+2-5%
STALKER Clear Sky:+5-10%, primarily on Crossfire configurations
Catalyst 8.12 will be released one week from today, Wed December 12th. I'm currently testing the driver with Sapphire's Radeon 4850 X2 and hope to have the review up shortly.

Not much improvement, but something is better than nothing. I hope the new set fixes the water glitch in COD5.

Nice. I think I'll wait a few for the officials tho.
Hope they fix the water issue I'm having in indoor areas in Fallout 3. It's the only game I'm playing right now.

What issue are you having? Just curious - I'm using an HD 4870 and the water in that game is looks better than much of the rest of it to me.

Indoor water sometimes intermitently has no shader effects (just looks like thick fog) and other times you can see below the floor onto what's below the level. Also just found out that some outdoor water can lose it's shader effects up to a certain distance... mainly small ponds, saw this first yesterday at the oasis.
I'm still using the 8.10 hotfix 2 drivers so it could be that.
Not sure what the fallout 3 problem is..water is fine on mine..8.11

I've seen this too on occassion in the game. Still happens with the 8.12 betas unfortunately.

It might be the 8.10s, I'm on the 8.11s also and it looks fine. Not really impressed with how the rest of it looks :o but the water is fine.

i liked fallout 3 did the same misstake as with oblivion went through the main quest and now i am back for side quests :)
i am intested to see how the 8.12´s will do
I wouldnt recommend these leaked beta's for FO3,i tryed them over the weekend on my single 4870 and stright from the go get they have all kinds of rendering errors in Fo3
strange flashing on various textures, broken indoor water(spec pops on and off) little white blocks (ala crysis)and random poly spikes from various NCP's and world items....the vats AA slowdown is stilll there as is the GPU memory leak these last two im sure are and app problem....all the former dissapered on returning to cat 8.11 hotfix
Thanks for the heads up.
Anyhow the rest of the game doesn't seem to have issues. I've seen some weird beam of energy looking thing where it definitely should not be on a friends pc with a 4870 and afaik the same drivers as me. It was a one off though.
The games graphics look good to me. It's a convincing world because the graphics are consistant. Not too many glaring ugly things and for a game like this, that's important.
