I found this by looking around and thought you guys might be interested. Hopefully it wasn't posted earlier. :o

Halo 3 seems to be a lot slower on HDD and Bungie has confirmed and explained the reason why.

Thanks for that Naito. Much more indepth than the vids floating around.

I'm still over the moon at how will Mass Effect runs from HDD. Guitar Hero III also gets a nice boost too. This afternoon I was shocked that I wasn't getting loading screens at all!

Apparently Lost Odyssey gets a nice boost too, so I'm looking forward to trying that.

Thanks for the 'fo :D

Best thing about HDD installation is silence. Latest Xbox 360 is a pretty quiet machine except DVD drive, and installing game to HDD removes this noise :)

Can you post back how big the game is when isntalled. I want to install it but I don't think it would fit on my 20GB HD. I was thinking of getting the 120GB HD but it almost cost as much as the Arcade bundle. :(

No game can be bigger than 6.8GB (if it ships on single DVD).

I can get 2 installs on my 20GB. Thats after taking off all demos and movie clips and all that. Still got a gig leftover. 2 games being GoW2 and Dead Space. Which for me is quite adequate. But I'm still pondering a 60 or 120GB. :)

Personally I'm digging the HD installs. I havent seen any graphic pop in stuff with the 2 mentioned games. Should take GTA 4 for a spin since that one had it more often then most.

Sure thing!

23.2GB all together for me. Each disc is 5-6GB (6.3GB tops)

I definately noticed faster load times after copying NFS Underground to the hard drive.

No wonder Halo 3 is slower if you install it on the hdd, those laptop disks are no performance monsters >_>

It made a bit of difference with lost oddesey :) and that game needs all the help it can get
But first and fore most it reduces noise and you will not get dirty disc message any more :D

Too bad the 120gb hdds cost more then the actual console to get

They most likely make a disk image of the DVD and use it in virtual DVD drive.
This is the easiest way to make it work and requires everything to be copied, including the movies and such.

I picked up the 120GB hardrive at Target for $89 a week ago. Doubt they have any left but it's worth a look if you need one.
