Wondering if it worth it to get?

I know nothing about TV's and I have an old crappy 27 inch tv, been looking to upgrade for a while

or should i look for something better?

that is if i can even get one?

only thing i was not sure was 720p vs 1080p

I don't know a great deal more than you, I'm still learning, but it doesn't sound bad. The price is right, the contrast ratio is good amd it seems to come with a good compliment of features. The one thing that I would want to know before buying it is it's response time. It seems notably absent from the specs.

EDIT: From what I have been told, I would wait for a buy that does give 1080i. I may be wrong, but I'm expecting some better prices aftter Christmas.

It's ok but understand that the set is a low end tv from samsung, I'm sure you could find better for the same price.

Just got a great panasonic for a dollar more...

can you recommend what to get?

i really am lost but need something that will play Wii and maybe Xbox360 in the future and look great for DVD, and HDTV

thanks

I really do not want to spend a ton of money more then $1000, if that is possible?

I personally would have paid a tad more and picked up a Panasonic PZ80 or PZ800 series Plasma. If you are going to go plasma, then Panasonic or Pioneer own the market. I have a 46" PZ80U which I paid about $200 more than the BB price you linked and I absolutely love it. PS3 games and Blu-ray movies look absolutely stunning at 1080p and being a plasma, blur is never an issue.

That being said, the one you picked will be miles better than what you have, so enjoy it. :)

I just got mine yesterday and love it!

This thing is amazing!!!!

If i were spending $1400 I would have got the 1080p set you linked but since I got such a great deal and got it for $899 with no sales tax I just could not see spending twice that just for 1080p, especially since I really do not see getting a blu ray or ps3 in near future anytime soon though I guess that can change

from what i understand 1080p is not that huge of a difference unless you are sitting at the right optimal viewing difference if i understand correctly? to spend $1000 more for a little bit more detail, i just cannot see it

Hi-def cable is compressed and only looks so good anyways.

Enjoy the new TV though, you still got a great deal. :)
