GTX 260 and the MSI 650i Motherboard (PCIe 1.0 question)

I know there were some incompatibility issues with the 8800GT line and motherboards running PCIe v1.0 spec. Despite the promised backwards compatibility, people had issues where no picture was displayed after upgrading and it was determined to be an issue with the card being PCIe 2.0 spec and the motherboards having 1.0 spec.

I'm looking to get a GTX260 shortly after Christmas and given that it's 2.0 PCIe spec, I was wondering if anybody could give me a clear answer on if it would work just fine with a MSI 650i SLI Platinum ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130081 ) motherboard.

I'm on a 8800GTS 320MB right now, and if I don't have to upgrade my motherboard for a new video card, I don't want to just yet.

I just want to see if anybody has some confirmation that the GTX260 and my motherboard will play nicely with each other before the card is purchased. Thanks.

I have a a ASUS 650i SLI and it will run one card at 16x ,but sLI it is 8x + 8X I would'nt think you would have any problem just running one card since it is 16x,but I would'nt try running two in SLI since it is just 8x ,probally would'nt get the full power out of two , but I would think you would be ok with just running the one GTX 260.I know my EVGA 680i SLI is just PCIe 1.0 and not PCIe 2.0 but it does have two true 16x slots and it runs my teo GTX 280's just fine .They is very little difference in running a GTX 280 or 260 in a PCIe 1.0 slot and a PCIe 2.0 slot.

i have an asus p5b deluxe which has pcie 1.0 and im running a GTX 280 just fine
