there it is... bleh. Honestly I never understood 3dlabs GPU's to begin with. They were always overpriced, and you could get so much more for your money from ATI or Nvidia

I'm sorry but this product has very little potential in my opinion. You are better off with a R9500 or TI4200, both of which are in the same price range, perform better for games, and can handle digital photos just as well :p

It doesn't look like Creative is aiming this card at gamers whatsoever.

no they aren't, so whats the point? I mean like a I said any gaming card can more than handle digital photography, so why make a $150 card dedicated for it?!?! Makes no sense to me at all. Buy a cheapo-noname TI4200 ;)

Right. I never said the card has potential. Just that it seems more focused on areas that Matrox focuses on. You're absolutely right, unless there are some great 2d features/2d quality in this card, it seems pointless. I guess they need some revenue though :p

Man... that paper launch makes the NV30 look EARLY. ;)

And yes, I'm heavily caffeinated. Again.

Heh, actually Maximum PC did a big feature story about the 3DLabs P10 and how Creative was going to bring said chipset down to the consumer level. I'm 99% certain it was in the July '02 issue, meaning the story had to be done at least 2-3 months prior to that. So we're talking news that's hovering around the 12-13 month-old timeframe.

Talk about your day late and a dollar short. Neither NVIDIA nor ATI have anything to worry about here.

Is this card a consumer P10, based on the P10, or a successor to the P10?

It uses the vp500SE which is a reworking of the P10.

I hope this is some kind of late april fools joke. :D

If not im not sure what Creative have been smoking... it seems so ludicrous. Ah well i guess it depends on its price point but the specs seem a little on the anerexic side. But i guess i shall reserve judement for an actual review or something... :)
