Remember the Lara Croft/3dfx deal?

I just read a couple of quotes from some nVidia investors, and it got me thinking...

If you haven't heard/read about it yet, nVidia threw this E3 party, had some porno chick show up, and had Smashmouth play live. Pretty prominent party.

Anyhow, this is just another one of those things I notice that I don't feel you would have seen from the "old" nVidia...but definitely consistent with the old 3dfx. Anybody remember that big $30+ Million ad campaign that 3dfx pursued, that included the Lara Croft/Tombraider giveaway?

Also, I believe that 3dfx also threw some party that was either @ the Playboy mansion, or it was hosted by Playboy (been a long time, so I'm just going by memory)...

Not that I'm necessarily opposed to these kind of shin-digs...hell, I've definitely had my share of partying, to say the least...

Don't some of these things seem eerily familiar?

I think Typedef's either drunk or on crack again. No big deal.

I vaguely remember that 3dfx campaign. But I don't think it has to do with 3dfx at all--I think that since NVIDIA is for all intents and purposes the Goliath of the 3D industry now (where 3dfx used to be), they can throw the huge parties and stuff. Now, back in the Day, when they were David, no, they couldn't.

Hell, crack isn't even the "in" drug anymore...Apparantly, heroine is "the" drug of choice...that is, if you want to throw everything down the tubes, lose your house, get really bad shakes, etc.
