Just did a fresh install and still fail. Deleted all the ATI folders, ran ccleaner, ran the ATI uninstaller.

The install goes fine, then when vista boots for the last time, the screen flashes and goes to 1024x768, and disables one of the GPU's. The other one shows up fine in the device list, with the 8.12's listed as the driver. The other GPU is disabled for error 43, driver error.

This problem is not happening with everyone... but I have seen it on many a p35 board around the interweb.

C'mon ATI, don't fail us now.

Went back to the 8.11's, no problems.

that sounds familiar, something very close to that was happening on my 780G board. When I first got it set up, took me over hour to install the driver for ATI GPU correctly.

I have 8.10 running on it right, unless i'm forced to i'm not touching those drivers don't want anything to get f-ed up again.

I had no problem re-installing the 8.11's. Took a minute.

I have had that kind of problems when trying to roll back ATI drivers, for example after installing official 8.11 I had tons of problems trying to go back to 8.10 hotfix. Finally I managed to do it by manually deleting ATI folders (at program files and user data, including roaming folder) and deleting every 'ATI Technologies' entry that I found in the registry.

ATI drivers can be a real pain to upgrade or downgrade

The install proceed without problems. After the first reboot the CF-X tab is missing and things are ok in 2 D. Up to cat. 8.11 the CF-X tab came right up after the first reboot.

Now I have to reboot again and then CF-X tries to activate but it fails and cause an infinite loop of switching signals (monitor resets) indicating CF-X tries to activate, but won't succeed. (I succeeded to look into the devive manger and it say's the first GPU has stopped working?)

I have had these (beta) drivers running before on an X38 mobo without problems.
Now with the X58/i7 I cann't run them

Installed these last night on my system in sig below.
the install seemed a little different this time in that the screen went totally dark while seating properly didnt ask to reboot which seemed a little out of the ordinary.

I did restart the computer after the driver installed however it seem to need an additional restart for all to seat well.

I gain about 40 3d Vantage points compared to the last drivers and crysis, and ET Quakewars played fine.

So for me other than the unsual process with regards to the way the drivers installed all is good for me and the drivers seem to work well.

I will post back if anything seems unusual moving foward.

I had no trouble installing these. All I played with these is Fallout 3, Dead Space and Left 4 dead so far. Not seeing much difference from the 8.11s really...but I've been pretty fortunate with the HD4870 and drivers so far also, so I wasn't really looking for any specific bug fixes.

No reasson to not keep these atm.

In summary, single cards are fine and crossfire will most likely be problematic.

installed these drivers last night. No problem.

As most have stated, no problems for those with single cards. Hope ATI gets the bugs worked out for crossfire though. :(

tell me does SLI work properly vs crossfire.
Looking over the time how long SLI has been around.

and maybe crossfire maybe needs time too

Glad it's working on your x2.

Are you guys who are having trouble using a driver cleaner? I've read it's a no no with ATI drivers, so have never used one. So far, *knocks on wood* I haven't had a single serious issue since I've had this card.

yeah i tried it earlier in the beggining with me HD4870 and it went bananas and since then i just use the Ati unionstaller and CCLEANER and it is working wonders i hope :)
