Seems like a very nice product but maybe too little too late?

These would be great for an HTPC, especially if AMD hits the $79 price point for the Black Edition. That means the 7550 would be even cheaper, and still more than adequate for home theater duty.

:wtf:

I guess it's good for the price point, but I can probably get a lot of used hardware that is cheaper and just as fast.

Some of the links had extra http: in them so I fixed them. :)

Its hard to really find anything special with these CPUs. The cheap Pentium Dual Cores are faster and will overclock significantly more.

seems like a waste of time even if its cheap

Why bother when they should just rebadge their x2's?

And the new X2's have less clock speed than the 6000 series so why go with a 2700 mhz when you can have the 3200 x26400 instead?

The same reason you wouldn't buy a 3.8ghz Dual core P4 over a 2.66ghz c2d? Clock for clock the phenom chips are about 40% faster than the K8 chips. At 2.7ghz the phenom x2 is 15 to 30 percent faster than the fastest k8 x2 chip. Also, the review i read listed the 7750 outperforming the intel dual core chip in its range?

I'm actually interested in one of these honestly.

anyone else know that this are bad Phenon chips, before they turned off one core.

now they turn off two cores and you got 7000 series

You say this like it is a bad thing. Would you prefer AMD do like Intel and scrap the entire chip, literally throwing money, time, and resources away by doing so? At least this way AMD turns a profit on what would otherwise be a loss. nVidia and ATi do this all the time, and nobody ever dogs on them for it.

And trust me, before long, Intel will to. It's merely smart business. Why throw away what you could be getting money for?
