View Full Version : Can PS3 play burned blue ray disks?

I've got some extra spending $$ and several best buy gift cards so I'm thinking of swinging by there to pick up a PS3 and GT5 prologue.
I've got several videos I want to burn to blue ray disk (when I get a burner for my PC) so my question is how well the PS3 reads burned blue ray disks. Is it picky with which disks it reads?
Does it have any weird quirks with reading regular store bought blue rays? My brother already has several blue rays he's burned by...."backing up" his roomate's BR disks. Will the PS3 read these?
Thanks for any answers

No idea, but I'm interested to know. I have a heap of vids I'd like to backup on one big BD.

If you already have those videos as an .avi file or some of the other formats it would just be easier to put it onto a thumb drive and plug that into the PS3. You can play the files from there and not have to waste expensive discs. Another easy thing you could try is just burning a couple of files to a cd or a dvd and seeing if it will read that. IIRC I think I've thrown a burned dvd into the PS3 and it did play it, so it might work.

yes it will play, don't know from personal experience, but there was a lot of talk about it on CDFreaks.

Flash drive is what I use alot. It is nice to copy the best movies to the PS3 harddrive. Its fun to have good movies on there when taking the PS3 to gaming parties.
