SlySoft defeats Blu-ray's BD+ DRM scheme again

Despite some sites reporting that "SlySoft has been beaten", the
Antiguan company renowned for promoting Fair Use Rights has effectively
defeated BD+ once again and much earlier than expected; the cat and
mouse game of DRM has entered the next round.

Although newer BD+ decryption wasn't expected until February 2009,
today's AnyDVD HD 6.5.0.2 release decrypts copy protection on all
current Blu-ray movies and, in turn, ensures that consumers may continue
to backup and enjoy their Blu-ray movie purchases even when using
computer monitors that are not HDCP compliant. In fact, AnyDVD HD
remains the only program that can decrypt all commercial Blu-ray
releases, and this incredible magic is, as per usual with AnyDVD HD,
performed on the fly without requiring users to rip first to their hard
drives.

The following is a selection of current Blu-ray releases supported by
AnyDVD HD:

Futurama: Bender's Game (U.S.)
Firefly, The Complete Series (U.S.)
Planet of the Apes (1968 ) (U.S.)
Predator 2 (1990)
Shine a Light (U.K)
Planet of the Apes (the series), U.S.
Space Chimps, USA
Meet Dave, USA
X-Files 2
X-Files 1
Home Alone
The Day The Earth Stood Still: Special Edition
Jingle All The Way
Super Troopers
Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story
Horton hears a Who
French Connection I & II (UK)
In the Name of the King (US)
Vanishing Point (Germany)
Babylon A.D.

i love DRM and protection schemes because theyre all touted as the "greatest" and how no one will ever decrypt them etc. then someone does and they have to start all over lol.

they should just remove DRM from BD. i mean, the discs are like 25+GB and it's not really viable to download an entire BD. so, allow users to backup their discs, remove the DRM, and this cat and mouse game will be over.

I hate DRM in BDs, I rented Firefly on BD from netflix put in in my HTPC to watch it, and PowerDVD gives me a message that it can't play the disc to go and download update.

Had to register on cyberlink website, and there is no update.

Well done slysoft! ;)

Wonder how long it'll take before they get sued.. Place your bets now!

I hope every BRA Member sues them individually so they can't financially support themselves afterwards due to costs of fighting all the law suits. The BRA doesn't have to win, just make then run out of money (kind of like how Sony took out Bleem).

why?

wtf is the point of DRM on BD? with the endless revisions it seems like it hurts more than it helps. as i said, downloading BD's is not really a viable alternative. so, it seems like all DRM does at the moment is prevent ppl from backing up their own discs or playing them in the first place.

not to mention hardly anyone owns BD burners to begin with.

that mangus for ya :headexplode:

few years ago certain DVDs stopped working in Media Center computers, AnyDVD fixed that.
Now some BD movies don't play in PowerDVD(WindDVD etc..), asks for upgrade doesn't exist, AnyDVD fixed that now AGAIN.

Storage is cheap, and proliferation of high-speed broadband (20Mbps+) makes acquiring full BD images really, really easy. So while it might not be totally viable, it's becoming more commonplace.

that's great and all but you're not really looking at how the whole acquiring BD images process happens.

typically, people who download these things download them from torrent sites. so, it doesnt matter how fast your down stream is, if people dont have a fast enough up stream it will still take weeks to get the image.

furthermore, sure many connections are 20Mbps down, but what is their up speed? hell, many people are lucky if it's 1Mbps up.

Yeah, but she has an anime club she goes to watch it with her friends. Besides, I doubt any of this censor and blocking stuff will go ahead. The opposition to it is huge and if the current PM wants to make the next election he'll back off.

Your country is pretty crazy so I wouldn't put it pass them to pull such a stunt. Heck you all almost banned Fallout 3 because it had "morphine".

The ones I watch are usually serious for the most part, it's like watching Lost or Prison Break but in cartoon form. Some of them are really deep, like Twelve Kingdoms which deals with religion, politics and racism.

Then everyone else followed suit.

Prepare to have your internets banned too. Change IS coming to the US after all.

I LOL at most modern anime. It's so far up it's own arse with the convoluted story lines and the Japanese understanding of the bible is hilarious. Then the outright plagiarism of some series. I.e. Claymore and The Witcher.

I do watch the classics though like GITS, Beebop and movies like Howl's Moving Casino.
