Not saying it's highly optimized but GTA4 needs more than 1GB in its current state :p

Not only that if some of the other big titles like Alan Wake come out this year, there might be other games pushing the 1GB envelope. If you're going to use the card for any length of time, I'd consider 1GB the minimum at this point.

I'd dump my HD4870 512MB in a heartbeat for a lower power req GTX285. I hope it this comes out soon and we see some benchs!

Anyone know possible pricing for the 285s?

Tigerdirect is selling BFG 280 OC edition for $295 btw, pricing is dropping fast.

The GTX280 is more interesting price performance wise if you ask me.

The GTX285 will cost about 100 more than a GTX280, and a GTX280 can be overclocked to GTX285 values easily.

I'm thinking of getting 2 280's instead of 2 285's. Saves me 200 euros, and with some clocking I have the same FPS results. GTX280 is insanely cheap atm.

Okay, a 285 can be overclocked too, but its not worth the extra money imho.

GT212 will be.

I was ready to jump on a couple of 295's or 3 285's, but with the GT212 just around the corner. I think I will hold off.

Some very nice clocks there. Will be interesting to see what XFX XXX version will be like.

WOW!!! Very, VERY! nice clocks on that Extreme version. I think the core can be clocked higher. To about 750Mhz I think. The 280's do 700... so...

That Extreme version will be an expensive card I think though.

Both GIGABYTE 285 and 295 just appeared here in Latvia and prices are really interesting...
GTX 285 costs 255 Lats (366 Euro), which is less than the cheapest 280 the shop has listed (MSI 280 OC).
For reference, here is the price of a HD4870X2 from Club 3D: 306 Lats (438 Euro).

I'm tempted to buy one...

=O

438 Euro = $600. USA = $450 ($400 w/ rebates but ignore it for now). SO
366 Euro = $500. USA = $300 using the same differeance...

=OOOO What a price! Lol, if only.

Many things are very cheap in the US, even cars and houses, and especially electronic products and computer parts.

The GA GTX 295 (http://buy.yahoo.com.tw/gdsale/gdsale.asp?gdid=1283327&act=gdsearch) costs US$605, and the GA GTX 285 (http://buy.yahoo.com.tw/gdsale/gdsale.asp?gdid=1004038&act=gdsearch) costs US$447 here. :thumbdwn:
