I missed the 2008 gaming season and I'd like to play Crysis now, belated or not.

What do I need to comfortably run on 1920x1200? I'll not use DX10, and I'm not big on graphics options other than the resolution.

I still have a Core2 Celeron single-core at 3.3 GHz that's doing nothing, is that a good starting point? Is Crysis making good use of multicores?

What kind of graphics card would you say?

its very gpu bound... you need at least 2gb of ram and a gtx 260 or hd4870

Actually at 1920x1200 you'll want 4GB of memory. A GTX260 covers the job nicely

Use of the word "retrofitting" made me think you were from 10 years in the future.

That CPU may hurt you since its a single core celeron, even with a good overclock like that.

Yes, I agree there. Your CPU is pretty slow. Things like shadows and physics are pretty demanding on the CPU... I was CPU limited on a 3.2Ghz Quad Core on Very High... And I mean 17fps points during some maps... I had SLI at the time which puts a bit more strain on your CPU than usual.
