I have a spare monitor, the Samsung 151S and a spare output on the GPU so I wonder if it's possible to connect it to the GPU together with my current monitor - Samsung 913N and run both of them at native resolutions as two separate monitor, not as one vertical or horizontal one?

Yes you can. You will have to set it up. Although, with Vista it does a much better job, makes it a lot easier for the person. Keep in mind, you won't have a start button on both, etc. You can however, with certain programs, get a taskbar at the bottom. Ultramon is the preferred choice here, IMO. I love it for dual monitor use.

You mean on the bottom of the second monitor? I've tried settings them up before, but both ran at 1024x768 as that's the smallest resolution.

This is what I end up with... but I want to have 1280x1024 on the SM 913N and 1024x768 on the SM 151S. IE - native resolutions on both. Can Ultramon do that?

You will be able to do it without Ultramon. I'll have to go through the steps on mine to find out exactly how to do it again.

You want to run them in dual view mode, not span. Ultramon has nothing to do with the resolutions you use.

Ultramon is for more wallpaper options and other neat tricks. It's worth a look at.

edit - under # 2, its at the bottom. I have the CRT off right now.

I have not got the DualView option... will try the latest drivers.

EDIT: Well, now I've done and while it is pretty cool I don't really see how I could find it useful atm :p.

Ya - sorry. I didn't giver you the best answer. :o

I would suggest keep it dual for the time being. Once I went to two screens, I didn't go back. It gets useful. ;)

Yeah, I'd imagine that after a while one must find ways to make use of the extra space.

What monitors do you BC?

I have two Sceptre 17". They're both about 3 years old. Time to upgrade. :)

At first I didn't think I would use both but I do for multiple functions. One big one is Winamp. I have it configured just right on both monitors so it's easier/more appealing to deal with the music library, etc.

That being said though, any widescreen monitor nowadays could do the same thing. :p

You see, yours seem to be of the same size and resolutions, that might make things a bit easier, less awkward.

EDIT: Although, now I can play Crysis and watch WALL-E at the same time!
