i bought this bundle on tigerdirect http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5553181&CatId=3585
Geforce 275GTX and Geforce 9800GTX+ and im trying to SLI them but when i do, i get a black screen with no output. i have a 750W power supply. Any ideas whats wrong?
hey grats on the nice kit. But what setting is making the screen go blank? You can't use sli with those two but you can set the 9800 for physx. Is that when it happens?

i hook up the second card and connect it with the SLI Bridge, when i hit the power button the monitor doesnt show anything. do i need to enable something before installing the second card? Do i need to leave the SLI bridge off for this combo since the second card is being used for physx?

Don't use the bridge, you can only use that with two identical cards. Lose the bridge, hook up the monitor to your primary card (GTX275), reinstall the latest drivers, and under the physx config panel in the nv cp select the 9800.

I will try that when i get home from work. thanks for your help. would i need to install drivers for both the cards? or only the primary card?
Well, I gave in. I found an Evga GTX 285 for $340 and it's awesome, even with Crysis Warhead DX10 Very High 1680x1050 4xFSAA. Very awesome. No more heat, and the power management is great. Coming from 8800GTX SLI the performance is about the same, minimum fps came up in all the games, and I don't have to worry about games that don't support SLI anymore. Here's the thing, I still have 28 days to return it if i wanted to. Should I just hold onto it or return it and wait for something better, perhaps GT300/Fermi. I was looking at the evga classified edition for $400, but to spend that money for the same/slightly better performance minus heat/power consumption doesn't seem, to me at least, worth it.

It's not worth it. Fermi could be a while away. Maybe stick with the 285 for now. Maybe add another for SLI 285 ::naughty::

I could not find a clear answer regarding SLI microstuttering with the newer nvidia chips. You think maybe, just maybe, a driver release could eliminate it if it does exist with the newer cars?

Sorry for the delay; you only have to install the drivers once like you would for a single card. Just don't forget to switch over physx to the 9800 in the control panel because it usually defaults to the primary card.

Just got my BFG GTX 275 OC yesterday, replacing an EVGA 8800GT that went into my wife's new Core i5 rig. I actually had to swing by Fry's and buy a new case - the 275 wouldn't fit in my old Antec Super Lanboy case!

The 275 OC should run much cooler than the 8800GT and it is so much faster! BTW: In my 4 rigs at home I have a 275 OC, a 260, a 250 and the 8800GT. I guess I like Nvidia.
