I'm not really clear on what this has to do with overclocking I thought to overclock all you need is ur multiplier x ur FSB = ur clock speed?(for the basics) I want to overclock my Q9550 to 3.0-3.2 (not a big performance hit I know) my temps are reasonable I guess:

My mobo is a gigabyte EP45-UD3R I already disabled the EIST and C1E so if I wanted to hit 3.0 I would need these settings? A multiplier of 8.5x353 FSB and thats it?? I'm confused as hell. I wouldn't think I need to mess with vcore? 1.25(stock) should do just fine eh?

If you're not overclocking the memory there shouldn't be any need to relax the timings.
Here's a guide on overclocking gigabyte motherboards. http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/gigabyte-x38-p35-p965-ds-dq-s3-overclocking-general-bios-tweaking-guide-26112/

Lowering the RAM timings will increase the performance of the memory subsystem.

You can lower the latency, and raise the bandwidth.

Both factors will increase the performance of your CPU.
