Hmmm.....decisions, decisions, decisions. On one side you have a company that has a minor infraction that they've stepped forward and explained & dealt with and on the other you have a company that won't return any e-mails or answer any question over a MASSIVE cheating infractions and they just run around paying people to say they got the best card?
Hmmmmm....tough one.

Yeah kinda thinking that ATI handled this with class and honesty, NVIDIA still havent done anything. :( I bet those 'cheats' are still in newer drivers, just NVIDIA are going to try and find a way around the new patch to fool us yet again. I doubt they will admit to cheating and let the 3dmark scores drop so much - makes their products look rather bad.

How about Matrox?
They were confirmed not to cheat in 3dmark03 at all. Matrox is the only company thus far who hasn't cheated in 3dmark03 or 3dmark2001.
Too bad they aren't going to make gaming cards anymore.

Matrox are cool :D
Just a shame, like you said, they dont really make gaming cards. But they seem to have stayed a solid and reliable company - not too competetive and sort of unphased by what other people are doing. They make what they want - seems to work well for them. Even if they dont have a huge market share in terms of gaming they are unriveled really for the business markets.
Easiest voting decision I ever made.

Who friggin' care? Give me a fast card.
Respectable? LOL
listen these are two large corporations who care about one thing: making money
forget respectable and forget this 3dmark cheating thing, buy the card that best fits your budget and the performance you are looking for
Most respectable between ATI and Nvidia? I'll pick 3dfx  What's that? 3dfx is dead? So is this topic. :lol2:
an obvious answer... ati has handled the whole situation much better than nvidia.

Id like to have seen one of the companys step forward and say they were cheeting with out being confronted on it first. clearly if no one would of said something, none of them would of fessed up to it.
PowerVR,
The elegant, intelligent graphical solution.....
Where's the neither option?
I guess I'd give a slight edge to ATI at the moment, but that's based on the pictures I've seen of the E3 booth babes. :( :( :(
Ya know thinking it over, I think I would give ATI more edge also now, simply because NV messing up:
-huge delay on 5800 and both it and the cards below it so far have been a disappointments, especially the 128bit memory bus
-this whole cheating fiasco which I care a little less about, but it definetly raises an eyebrow
-and now I hear the 5900Ultra is being delayed!!! I mean come on enough already!
I love the GF4TI series, and the GF4TI4200 is still the best deal going out there... but NVidia can't seem to get past this point. They continue to get outperformed by ATI, and ATI has managed to work out many of their driver bugs at last from what I hear, so again I ask, "What the hell is Nvidia thinking?!?!"
Yep, I'll give more points to ATI right now for the mere fact that NVidia keeps dropping the ball

Well that's an interesting point and i'm sure we would all like to see that. Although I think it's obvious that it won't happen. Why bother cheating if you are going to tell everyone you're doing it?
As for ATi on this issue. I don't think they thought they were cheating at all, just optimizing. Well atleast their driver guys thought that. It seems that a few other people in the industry would agree with that too. When they were questioned about detecting the app however, ati management stepped in and said the optimizations had to go. So I guess from their view it doesn't give them much of a chance to confess of cheating beforehand.
I guess you could say that nvidia thought they were optimizing and not cheating also. That does seem a little ridiculous though, and nvidia haven't really helped us out by not really commenting about it.
Do you guys think it would be possible that it could be only a couple of driver guys that are responsible for the whole thing? That maybe their Bosses/management, don't know about the lengths they are going to to get better performance? I doubt it in the nvidia situation but it is a thought.

I have no clue of who is really responcable for it, but i think Nvidia pulled a great trick on everon.
While ATi atmited they were 'cheating' or optmizing
Nvidia forces Futuremark to publicly say "nvidia was just optmizing"
Dam, nvidias pr is good.

You heard it from nvidia and Futuremark boys and girls. nvidia was not cheating in 3dmark03, they were optimizing for a specific app. That means ATI certainly wasn't cheating either :rofl
hmm, I knew I was *NOT POSTING BUT TWO OR THREE TIMES REGARDING THIS SUBJECT* for a reason...

Futuremark saying nvidia not cheating is the most hypocritical thing I have ever heard.
What about ATI ?
Regardless I still think ATI and Nvidia were cheating. Some bias PR from futuremark will not change my mind.
